An experienced international who was regarded as being world class at least before his injury lsat year and people aren't happy. I'll be happier if we get him (happier rather than happy as its so late and we could have got him weeks/months ago).

The only doubt is how his injury will affect him. We know more than most that it can ruin a career. Look at Diaby, Eduardo, Rosicky (although they had broken legs) and the jury is still out on Djourou, Frimpong, Rosicky and I dont think Ive missed anyone have I?

Never pleasing some people

Its a toss up between two opinions

1. he's a leader with amazing European and International experience and will help stop our defnce from being bullied and help organise and defend set pieces.

2. he's a slow clumsy lump who's good in the air but will get killed in our high line against pacey/strong prem strikers

He's good but slow.

But so were Franco Baresi, Bobby Moore and Laurent Blanc.

Perhaps not in that class, but he's good on the ball and excellent in the air. He has the intelligence to allow TV to use his pace to recover if necessary. I think he's clever enough to know when to take a risk.
