I've left out TV in last season as he wasnt fit and im using my hopeful ignorance that he'll play more this season. Clichy i haevnt rated in a while so dont mind that hes left and this guy santos has 20 odd caps for brazil. Mertersacker, no matter what some people are saying, is class, people are saying hes slow, but jesus, thats like saying Scholes was bad because he was a poor tackler. The way how i see it, Defence has improved a lot, midfield naturally is weaker but still not awful and attack has changed due to Gervinhos ability to run with the ball offers something different to nasri. I would still probably rather have last seasons, but i think we have reason to be slightly more optimistic. Especially if a new midfielder comes in too. I dont think it is all doom and gloom like we initially thought. I still dont think we will get anywhere near competing for the league, but i feel slightly better now.
Am i being too narrow or do others feel the same?

No Ramsey. The kid is good, but seriously... we need better than him. He isn't the top quality player that I hope he will become just yet.

This may be better at the end of wednesday the way we're going especially with the unexpected arrival of santos we could still have some more signings on the cards

Irony here is, if we'd had the "new" defence last season, we might still have a midfield approaching last season's "old" one now... if you see what I mean.
Given the choice then, I'd still say last season's team looks stronger... even allowing for the Squillaci factor.

Agreed Lexington
Thought we looked good defensively against Liverpool and that was with Sagna on the wrong flank and with a unexperienced Jenkinson. With Tommy V, a new CB and Santos in defence we should be so much better at the back. And with Cesc and Nasri still in the team, I think we would have a been a real force this season. Oh well.
