48 goals in 105 apps.
Failed to score in 13 out of 17 games in world cup finals/European finals, only scoring once in 11 games at world cups, never scored in knockout stages of either competition. Goals coming against Ukraine, Uruguay, Croatia and Switzerland in group stages.
Peter Crouch with 22 goals in 42 games has a better goals per game record, again due to bad teams faced.
With the way modern international football is nowadays, is it a huge achievement to break old goalscoring records? Or is it a case of filling your boots against the likes of Andorra, San Marino, Israel where 90 plus percent of the goals come from.

Lee Jones, Ritchie Partridge and Mark Kennedy!
Jon Welsh as well!
I thought they were all going to make it.

Kennedy thought he had made it and went down from there, everyone at the time said he couldn't make the step up but it wasn't lack.of talent it was application

In all seriousness, and those players you mentioned not being the focus, am not so sure.
All hypothetical but I have seen say Rooney I hired and England playing even say welbeck and look good and balanced. Then Rooney returns and gets put straight back in and its unbalanced again.
Think with the golden generation they were individually good but as a unit not so much

Neither just neighbour/friend or friend of a friend. Or married to someone who's relative was a sportsman and was very sports orientated myself and have friends in sports that I didn't make out of injury
Was arrested recently with a famous boxer who shall remain unnamed

Meh people always said England would be better and more balanced with inferior players.
Then they played and we were worse.

We don't bottle it, we just aren't that good. Look at the england team at the last tournament. Not one world class player in midfield or upfront, of course we weren't going to do anything.

That never stopped the greeks winning in 2004

What do the Greeks have to do with anything, it was a lucky run of results. an anomaly. There is a reason that the top countries with the best players usually win major tournaments.
England just have never been good enough across the park.
