0 wins out of last 4

This is what i dont get, struggling for form and to score goals, we are presented with a perfect opportunity by playing Bordeux, yet BR in his wisdom thinks...nah, ill stick in some fringe players and teenagers and we will see what happens; none of this building confidence by winning malarky, none of this playing players regulary so they get to know each other, nah....whole sale changes and fk the winning habit;genius!

Dont give me, players may get injured or we were 8 mins from winning, we SHOULD have beaten Bordeux, we should have played a strong side, we didnt, and now its 0 wins from 4, in fact its 2 wins in 6 games...BR really iinspires confidence. Well, now his selection indicates that the Norwich game is his priority, so he better bloody well win it...and convincingly!!

positives GB, think of the posititves (wow didn't think id say that ever!)

Bordeaux are the strongest team for us to face in our group, so to play the away game vs them with a second string and be disappointed that we only drew is quite positive.
he did state preseason that he wud be playing a seconde eleven in Europe to give them game time. and they performed well mostly.
rossiter and chirivella were very good and id hope they will continue in the euro games and maybe step in some pl games.
sakho and Gomez did well in def esp afer losing toure. I would like sakho in vs Norwich. I accept that skrtel is probably best of a bad bunch in our cb so him to partner sakho. Moreno in too pls.
ings in too pls

A draw away to Bordeaux isn't a bad result, they are hardly a pub team.

We have an important Premier League match in 3 days. No point fatiguing the majority of our players when there are people in the team that need match time etc etc.

We spent a hell of a lot squad depth for a reason. Not to have them all sit on the bench all season in the hopes that 11 first team players get injured...

If Bordeaux are the strongest in the group then beating them should have seen us with one foot into the next round.
I don't mean to sound arrogant but when is it a good thing when we are playing for a draw against a team like Bordeaux? They are currently a mid table team or thereabouts in the French League and haven't exactly been impressive this season. I think the aim should have been to win.
If the last match or two in the group end up being must wins for us then we won't have the luxury of resting first 11 players. I think we should have tried to qualify from our group as early as possible, then rest the players, an away win last night could have gone a long way.
It's still early in the season, players are not fatigued and are more in need of forging an understanding, perfecting the system and building confidence by getting wins than a rest at this time. France is a short trip in Europa league terms.
Having said that there are still feasible benefits to be had from resting players now so let's see how it works out. I think it's important to do well in the Europa League. I only saw last 5 mins of 1st half and whole of 2nd but I wasn't as unhappy as I have been recently.
Defensively we still have big problems but I though going forward we were good and overall the performance was an improvement. Can and Gomez could have defended better for their goal. We had leeway on the left side and Moreno was getting a lot of good passes played to him and putting some crosses in. Benteke perhaps would have enjoyed that and if we do that against Norwich we should win.

Someone mentioned that Bordeaux had already beaten PSG and Lyon(?). So maybe some do need to stop being arrogant and stuck in the past, and realise that these teams may just be at a better level than us right now.

Bordeaux drew 2 all with PSG, they didn't win though it was an away draw which isn't so bad. However, they've played 5 in Ligue 1. Won one at home to Nantes, drawn three and lost at home to some team I can't remember. They've scored 6 and conceded 5 I think.
They were very beatable.

That was last season.

They got a draw at PSG this season.

They are not bad, some skilful players.

Given the short trip though I don't really see why we didn't play our strongest team (whatever that is).

We have 4 home games in a row after it to rotate the squad.

A draw is an ok result and the kids did well generally but given how Plan A has been working poorly in recent games surely it needs more game time to get it right.

Instead we have chosen a mixed team with a different set up.

I don't really see how that helps us in the league, but we'll see on Sunday.

Spurs have played virtually different 11's in this competition in recent years and still been bilge on the Sunday after.

A draw here means that if we win our 3 games at Anfield we'll probably go through as group winners. I have no problems with that.
