When the fixtures were released, most acknowledged what a difficult start to the season we'd been given, and predicted a pretty low return from those games. Did many of you actually predict we'd have any more points than we actually do? I did, but then I'm generally more positive than most on here. But for those of you that generally predict that we'll lose every game we play, surely we're exactly where you thought we'd be?
Win today, and we normally do beat Norwich, and the worst we'll be is 7th, level on points with 4th place United, and 2 points off second place. We now have a run of four very winnable games in various competitions, where hopefully we can get Sturridge up to full match fitness and get the confidence flowing, before we embark on a very difficult run of games during October.
The one thing that is concerning me is our actual style of play, it's been turgid. And we've gone back to trying to play the ball in our defensive areas, which has made us look even shakier and resulted in too many individual errors. Again, I'm hoping the return of Sturridge will help alleviate this by giving us the pace up front that we desperately need. I'm genuinely optimistic that Sturridge and Benteke are going to be a very good partnership. It's a given that they'll play together, there's no way that BR won't start both when fully fit......
Glass half full guy that I am, I believe we should wait until Sturridge has had a run of at least ten games before we get the knives out for Rodgers. I know there are certain members who won't agree, but that's your choice and your stress levels that are going to rocket, as I'm pretty sure Brendan won't be going anywhere until at least December, whatever happens.....
Is it really that bad?

much better today,
Ings and firmino both putting in good displays up front shows we could have played this way all season though,
which has to ask questions on Rodgers judgement with regards to returning to the failed 4-3-3 for the fourth season in a row..
say we scrape 4th this season, will he sabotage our early form again ?

People forget the sitter Matt Jarvis missed. Norwich then sat back happy to take the point so naturally we were going to dominate. We should not be getting excited over player slightly better than a promoted side at home.

And we are not kash.
what we are happy about is a return to a style of football that will yield results given settling time and a few games for studge to attain fitness.

We can only judge the style of play when we are against better opposition. I think our first half performance at Arsenal was much better than today.

Nonsense. We're talking about the style of play and team selected. It's irrelevant who the opposition is. The main point from today is that the manager has hopefully realised he needs to get back to an attacking style rather than a try not to lose style.

I wonder when opposition managers will cotton on to exposing Can again in the 3 in the back system?
My guess is that it will take less time than last season.
Clyne will give him more protection, but imo Clyne may struggle with the attacking side of the game playing as a WB. He's a full back and a decent one too

I thought Clyne attacked more than he has for us.

I thought he looked like a full back playing as a winger. He wasn't awful by any means , but he chose the safe option most of the time and his crossing was poor.
Moreno on the other side looked very good today, but conversely, when playing full back he looks like a winger.
