The real reason we didn't spend...

It’s obvious that Wenger has to go but I fear our issues are far greater and any meaningful change will only happen when the parasitic Kroenke is kicked out.

Like all Kroenke Inc franchises, we are a highly successful corporation masquerading as a football club.

The big cash reserves are there to secure loans required by Kroenke Sports Enterprises to build his new 80,000 seater, $1.86 bn – yes, 1.86 billion! stadium in Inglewood, California so he can relocate the Rams.

The bid has already been presented to the NFL owners and is up against a joint Chargers and Raiders bid for a stadium in Carson, Ca – a decision is imminent.

Thank you for your interest in our affairs.

Even if we signed Messi we couldn't 'know' for certain that he would outscore Giroud that was the point I was trying to make.
Also I'm assuming people on here questioning our business in the transfer market aren't paid 8m a year with a worldwide scouting network at their disposal so I don't really get what you're trying to say. He shouldn't sign players to stop fans 'crying', he should sign players because he wants to win and better players help achieve that.

I'm merely making the point that he should only sign whomever he WANTS to sign. People's stance seems to be he should sign a player he doesn't want because said player is better than what we have. Forget whatever reasons he has for not signing the player (reasons t that could be perfectly good) and just sign him because he's better. There's more to signing players than simply who is has the highest skill level.

Why wouldn't you sign a player if he was better than what you currently have?

So you've never seen a player who was better than an Arsenal player in his position and still thought "I wouldn't want him anywhere near my club. Cracking player though." ?

Just because he's a better player on paper doesn't necessarily mean he'll work in your team, or have a good attitude, or even want to come to England (I don't buy this assumption that every footballer wants to play in this league. That's an English myth). There are more factors involved in building a team than just individual skill level.

I've just mentioned the glaringly obvious ones. Who knows what's on Arsene's personal list in addition. I know it will be a hell of alot more than.

Requirements:

Anyone better than we have.

wb2 I think you are dead wrong in believing the reasons given by Wenger for not buying. Its far more likely that Wenger is not sure he wants to continue at the end of his contract.

I never said I believed anything. Just simply that there is more to buying players than "Just buy anyone better" And that if any of us were in his position and had our reasons for a course of action, we'd not change it because the fans said so either.

So your suggesting Wenger's not signing anyone to spite the fans? Fans wouldn't even be so vocal if he'd just do his job properly anyway.

I really hope so, there's not many examples in history of people relinquishing power by choice.

No, you're suggesting that. Spite has nothing to do with what I'm saying. I don't for one minute think he thought "I'll not buy anyone purposely to upset the fans." More decided he wasn't getting anyone and refused to let fan pressure force him into any old signing.

He may not have a choice if Josh Kroenke decides not to give him a new contract.
