Not Gods fault

Never said it was, but as they were in Mecca probably grovelling for his mercy, why didn't he show them some?

He/She/It might be doing that right now
They might be living it up in another dimension

Going to watch and support a certain team is considered a ritual to some fans
Fans have lost their lives following their rituals through no fault of theirs
RIP indeed to any innocent loss of life

This isn't the first time, the whole thing is ridiculous.

I know any reference to Hillsborough is sensitive, and I am sensitive to it myself being a lifelong red.
But there is no malice in this comparison.
Saudi authorities said it was safe for x amount of people to participate. There was something unsafe going on which he authorities did nothing about. People died. On these points the circumstances are very similar.
It's the aftermath of the tragedy which is likely to be very different.
Hillsborough is painful for so many because of the government and authorities actions afterwards.
RIP to them all.

I think the point RedWarrior was trying to make was you can't say that people died because of religion, if their intentions were safe, but for a mess up from the authorities.
Thousands of people throwing rocks at a pillar doesn't really sound safe in itself though.

-------
For the sake of good order, it isn't rocks. The stones are to be no larger than the size of a chickpea. It's a symbolic gesture rather than hitting the pillar to be thrown toward it.
Though people go overboard, and blame the pillar for their actions. Shoes, sandals (a favourite in the Middle East) have been known to be thrown. Heard once someone rammed it with a shopping trolley and all!
But taking away that lighthearted stuff, and back to the tragedy. It's being reported that a large group of people were going in the wrong direction on a one way system. Causing this crush/stampede.
That is a proper organisational ball drop.
