Perhaps he couldn't cut it at Premiership level back then. He was a few years younger. But he was the one player in the Coventry team that I genuinely feared when we played them the other day. If he was bad in his Everton days he has certainly improved since then. Competition from Birmingham and the failure to sell Bates quite yet means that there's a real chance this deal might not go through for Boro. But I'd be very happy if it did, and Mogga certainly has an eye for talent. The fact that he's willing to pay money for him instead of all our free acquisitions so far this summer fills me with even more optimism.

Also, he only actually made one appearance for Everton (according to the ever-reliable Wikipedia source!) - perhaps you never got to see what he was made of.

He was never good enough to break the first team for starts. Tells me everything. Sent out on loan and found his level, good luck to the lad.

it's kinda funny how much dislike you have for a player who played 1 match for you when he was 19...!
you can't judge a player one not making it at a premiership club when they're young. We had a guy called Danny Graham at a similar age, who never made it with us. He dropped down a few divisions, then fired 30-odd goals for Watford last year & is now back kn the Prem with Swansea.
And anyway, you didn't have a striker shortage when he was at Everton, you'll have had Yakubu, Saha, Vaughan & that Nigerian soundjng bloke (!!) - not to mention Cahill, who might aswell be classed as a striker. So as you can see, it's understandable why he will have struggled to get a place in the first team.

...FOR not making it at a Premiership club*

I watched Jutkiewicz on Saturday and felt he kept our defenders on their toes. His movement was good and he held up the ball well on occasions, he scored and generally linked well with his midfield, all attributes we need from a striker.
Mowbray has made him one of his top targets and that speaks volumes, especially as he is prepared to pay, what for us now is big money for him.
Deadline day is usually a blessing or a nightmare, depending on whether you need to buy or resist a sale. Let's hope it turns out to be a blessing for Boro and we end the day with a stronger squad than the one we started with.
Keep The Faith, Up the Boro !!!

Did I say I disliked the lad? I wished him all the luck, he was an Everton player and will get a great reception if he ever makes an appearance at GP

Ashbyfox,
It's a bit unfair and inaccurate to say that Coventry haven't got any fans. The last game I saw on tv there was thousands of them there.
I don't understand, however, why they all come in fancy dress. They all appeared to be dressed as sky blue seats.
