Eva - sexist or more bandwagon?

No doubt I'll be banned or trolled for this post and that in itself would be typical of how society reacts to such incidents these days, but I don't buy the sexist angle on this story. It's just too easy to cry foul and such an obvious opportunity for certain people to use for their own political ends.

There is no doubt that there is sexism in sport and society but I'm not convinced here. People seem to have conveniently forgotten that Eva was not alone is being castigated by Mourinho. A male physio, Jon Fearn, also ran onto the pitch with Eva and Jose's tirade was aimed at the pair of them, not just Eva. Fearn was also called naive and not understanding football.

Surely if Jose was sexist he'd have found a way to remove Eva from her duties a long time ago. Why would he have put up with her presence on the bench for two years? It does not add up.

Don't get me wrong. I think Jose was wrong. He totally over-reacted in the heat of the moment and the match. His removal of the pair from the bench on matchdays was pathetic. He should have spoken to them in private and sorted things out. Of course, maybe he tried. Fearn is still not allowed on the bench but has been allowed to carry on his role at the club. Eva refused to return and is now leaving. I suspect she'll get a payout for constructive dismissal. We don't know the details after the incident occurred.

What annoys me is that anything going against a woman is automatically branded as sexist. The same is true for oither "isms". If it can be proved to be true, then fine but here, I'm not sure and I think it does an injustice to genuine cases of bigotry.

Even the so-called lip reading evidence is contradictory with most saying Jose shouted SoB in Portuguese rather than the feminine equivalent which relates to women of the night. The "Women in Football" group claim the latter, no great surprise, They seem to have made up their mind very quickly on the matter!

Shouting SoB in frustration at a situation is fairly widespread and not directed at anyone in partuicular. Indeed, the word "Son" suggests male, not female.

If the doctor had been a man, I believe Jose would have behaved the same way. He was that heated. Eva's gender had nothing to do with it.
