So i saw the team sheet and was actually quite positive. To be honest we played ok first half without really creating that much, BUT yet again we completely shoot ourselves in the foot and Guzan and Lescott combine to gift Chelsea the lead. What really bugs me though is yet again we only turn up for 45 minutes. The second half was truly terrible !!! It was like we had already given up. This is the common thing with Villa this season. You either get a half decent first half and awful second or an awful first half with an improvement in the second. To be honest i think we will be relegated this season and we might even finish bottom. Football is a 90 minute game, you cant just turn up for a brief 35 minute spell and expect to get wins on the board ..

It isnt about skill or fitness though, it is about belief and experience.
I dont think Sherwood is inspiring belief in his young players and the experienced ones - Lescott, Guzan, Hutton, Sanchez and so on - are performing shi'ite and even gifting goals.
When you see the old pros play that bad, and the gaffer doesnt know what to do... it is a bad sign. Where do the younger players get their belief from when they see that week in, week out?

DLo1984 - think you've summed it up nicely. Though in the second half I think it was the second goal which killed us off. We need someone in the middle of the park to drive us on when things go against us. That was the main strength of Delph. Somebody in the middle has to take that sort of responsibility; Richards is too far back to do it. It's something Westwood just can't do, and I think concentrating on Gana, Sanchez and Veretout in that area is the way forwards.
In general terms I liked the attacking lineup. That's what Tim has to stick to. It's much more positive than the slightly strange lineups we've had in the previous two matches. Ayew was taken off apparently because he was shattered, but I think starting him and Grealish was right.
The main culprits were Guzan and Lescott. They are costing us dear.
I'm coming to the view that sacking Tim now would be stupid. We have problems, but one way or another they are sortable, and I think he's as good as anybody to sort them. Today's approach was much more what I wanted to see, even if Guzan and Lescott were massively at fault (Hutton's own-goal was just bad luck), and we need more leadership further forwards.
We're a far way from being relegated. Bournemouth are on a downward spiral, I think Watford won't be far behind them, and there are other candidates.

Bournemouth lost to us. That means we're better than them.
Who's blaming the new players?

I honestly think you boys are in trouble , Sherwood is useless and the sooner his gone the better of you will be .

Don't worry lads, you lot can take a breather next season.
We're on the way up, maybe to take over from you lot as relegation-fodder...who knows...so time for you to slip down into the Champ and consolidate.
No harm in it, look how many ex-champions/PL teams are there so you will be amongst illustrious company indeed, which is what you crave?
If we can hold it together and get promo, we will look in on you occasionally and you can be sure of a reassurring word from us now and then
