There is of course a lot of speculation about Sherwood's future at the club with many reports suggesting a defeat to Swansea next week would see him sacked. I'm pretty sure this wont happen and i still believe the board have faith in Tim. It is a very worrying time at the club with our position in the table and with very tough fixtures coming up it's hard to see us moving up the table anytime soon. I see Sociedad were beaten again today and it does seem Moyes will soon be on his way out. The think with Moyes which would make him a good fit at Villa is that he normally gets it right defensively which really is our huge problem at the moment. At Everton he always had the back four well drilled and it worked for him. I'm not saying sack Sherwood but if he did go, i would take preference for Moyes than most other candidates available.

Moyes currently sitting 5th bottom in Spain, under growing pressure and getting slated....
....so yes, he's probably a good fit.

I think Tim will be given more time. I think Fox will back him for some time unless he sees, from his inside knowledge, that things have gone pear-shaped, ie Sherwood has lost the plot, and I don't think that's the case at the moment. The one factor which might affect this is that Tim doesn't have the close relationship with Lerner that Lambert did, and Lerner will be worried about money, in many ways.
Any manager coming in would be aware, firstly of the challenge, and secondly of the small amount of investment available for the squad, unless the club is sold. Easier PL jobs might become available. However, Moyes would be a very good shout, for two reasons. One is that he has huge and proven PL experience, something that we haven't had since MON and Houllier. The other is that we have potential, despite the weaknesses of recent years, that many PL clubs don't have, and I think he'd be attracted by both the challenge and rewards.
Things against include a gut feeling is that the players we've bought largely aren't Moyes type players, and I'm not sure of the implications of that. For that reason I might rate Laudrup even higher; our squad would fit Laudrup's approach very well. Another thing is that Moyes record against the top clubs was never great; if he'd been in charge against Arsenal in the Cup I'm not sure he'd have done any better. Under Lambert we did quite well against top teams, overall, it was the others who caused us problems. But maybe that's being over fussy.
Anyway, I still see hope in the current situation. I reckon we will beat both Norwich and Watford; do that in the reverse fixtures as well plus Bournemouth, and that will be 18 points, halfway to survival, from those teams. We need to find another 18 (17 plus the draw we already have) and that's doable. So long as we don't fold.

If I was Moyes I'd definitely want the Villa job.
There are about 15 or so really 'Big' clubs in the UK and Villa are one of them. (Even if they havent won anything for donkeys years).
But when would he want to come?
Arrive now and fail to keep Villa up (with what is going to be largely Sherwoods team for the rest of the season) and that wouldnt look good. "30 games is long enough to turn it around". So people would say.
Or arrive nearer much nearer Xmas. With more like 20 games to go. With Villa maybe looking doomed. Then if he succeeds, he'd get a lot of kudos. If he failed to keep Villa up.. he wouldnt get the blame.
If I were Moyes, I'd rather those 20 games or so. Then he cant lose.

If I was Moyes I wouldn't be thinking about failure. If I wanted the job I'd grab it straight off.
Likewise Laudrup; with Laudrup it would have to be while he's free like now, as he's noted for not breaking contracts. Think he was fairly cheesed of by Swansea because he turned several offers from bigger clubs because of his contract only to find he was then booted out. The basic problem was Swansea have a very hands on owner who wants to do the decision making; Laudrup had his own ideas. Bit like Doug and his managers.
If Tim did go I'd take either. Whether either has sticking points about a kitty they would want to spend, I wouldn't know.
