If Mixu wasn't aware of just how serious the situation is at Tannadice then yesterday must have opened his eyes to the shambles of a team that Jackie has left us.

We were atrocious yesterday and looked utterly devoid of ideas of how to break down an organised but uninspired Hearts team.

We'll start with the positives:

Now we've got that out the way, let's look at what's wrong with the team.

Defensively we're terrible. It was interesting to see Mixu move Souttar to right back and shift McGowan inside to centre half. I was pleased that Souttar was out the midfield but right back isn't going to be his final position - he doesn't have the pace imo. It also left us with two cbs who are incapable of passing a football. It showed. Dillon did ok at left back but a right footer at left back doesn't work for me, and it wasn't helped that he had a centre midfielder in front of him. Durnan however was terrible. He looked like a lower league player and against better opposition would have been fully punished for his repeated mistakes.

The keeper had little to do other than pick the penalty out of the net. He had a good (but expected) save from a freekick, and another effort that he nearly made a mess of but saved.

Midfield? Rankin on the left does nothing for me and he should be inside. However again this is forced upon us because our squad is so imbalanced. We have no wingers. We have no width. We have no pace. So Mixu has no choice but to put the likes of Rankin - a good if unspectacular midfielder - into a wide area. We had two creative players in the team, yet both failed to deliver. Fraser was awful to be honest and Spittal wasn't much better, and of course was sent off towards the end.

Neither however were as bad as Kuhl. He's come up here thinking he's Cruyff and he was absolutely terrible yesterday. There was a good 20 minute spell where he didn't find a tangerine shirt once. He was giving it away in dangerous areas and he barely made a tackle. Dreadful.

Up top, Bodul was terrible and credit to Mixu for hooking him at half time. A dreadful signing by Jackie. McKay had little service and had our only shot on target. Taggart came on and worked harder than Bodul but didn't really show much.

I'm honestly struggling to see where results are going to come from, and we have a hard run of games coming up, starting next week at Celtic Park. I fear for us, I really do. Somehow we need to keep contact with the other teams then hope we can bring players in during the January window who can propel us up the league.

We are very much in danger of going down.

Paton will get off with a fine once he changes his pleae to guilty, if he keeps the not guilty one though and does inevitably get found guilty he might face a wee stint in the Tin pale

Are you still in the second tier of Scottish football because you got pumped in the playoffs by Motherwell?
