Canelo ducks GGG?

Canelo Alvarez faces Miguel Cotto for the middleweight WBC title next month and the winner is set to face GGG. However it seems that scenario may not materialise. Canelo has recently come out and categorically stated that he will not fight GGG unless he comes down to 155lbs. This comes as a big surprise to me because I always pictured Canelo as a fighter that never shies away from any fighter but if he does beat Miguel Cotto and holds the middlweight belt, surely not fighting at 160 would make a mockery of the sport. GGG by the way has also categorically stated he will fight Canelo at 160 only so we are now stuck between a rock and a hard place. If Cotto wins, there is no chance he will fight GGG, and if Canelo wins it seems he also will not fight him.

I remember fans claiming that boxing would grow when Floyd hangs up his gloves but we are still seeing fighters duck each other and catch weights being utilised at every opportunity.

Canelo for me could make 160. He comes in heavy on fight night and 160 would be a easier weight cut for him in my opinion. He is one of my favourite fighters out there but I hope he changes his mind and does fight GGG because I would have to rule it out as a duck on his part.

"My body isn't ready for 160...."

Yet he's more than happy to fight for a belt at 160. . Absolute shambles. Makes a mockery of boxing that boxers even attempt such nonsense and even more so that it's allowed to happen. Blatant duck by Canelo.

Every boxer looks for an advantage, it's the same as ggg saying he won't fight ward unless it's at catchweight, of course canelo can make the weight just as ggg can make super middleweight but both fighters will always look to maximise as much advantage as they can

Canelo is not ready for GGG at 160 GGG Will come down to 155 for him though as it gets his name out a lot more it's and actual ppv fight! Canelo will vacate I'm guessing though

150k ppv buys shows ggg has no choice but to go down to 155

Catchweight fights should be forbidden for title fights. They should only take place when there is no belt on the line I feel otherwise it becomes farcical.
