I know quite a lot has been written about this recently but I have a question. I hope it's not too daft.
Why do we have 8 participants in the CL and EL - more than any other country?
Spain and Germany have been ahead of us for a while but have 7 participants.
This works against us especially if we have one or more teams knocked out of either competition early because the coefficient is calculated by dividing the aggregate points in any one season 'as a country' (i.e. collectively) by the number of teams that start the competitions.

TNS have probably played more CL games than Rangers during the the last few years.
