Lvg made him captain and being the stubborn man he is he doesn't seem to be able to drop him in the league. If he's still regularly in the side by Christmas and still playing badly questions have to be asked about the managers sanity

I had understood, from sources I cant reveal here and tbh I laughed at them initially too, that the captaincy and playing time was part of the contract and make up the basis of his pay packet.

Obviously I don't know the details but as I understood it if he isn't captain he loses the captain bonus and not plying affects match fees etc and they are what made up the wage packet. Of that makes sense.

So imagine all being good you would get £100 but miss out and its a tenner

Seems massively unlikely that a player entering his 30s would be given a contract that guaranteed playing time. Ludicrous. If it ever did come out as true, heads should role.

Jesus wept. If it was negotiated that he has to play, that is one bad deal for the club. You can't put that type of deal in place because it is detrimental to the club. I can't see the club going for that type of deal tbh.

Wasn't there some rumour that the reason Vidic left was because his captaincy was being given to Rooney.

I'm not for one second suggesting it was true.
