Has the BBC now become a subsidiary of MUTV???
Over the past few months we've been treated to a number of TV programmes centred around the ever popular Old Trafford club.
There was SAF holding court in his 'Secrets of Success' book flogging exercise, Wayne Rooney in his '...Behind the Goals' hagiography and now the docu-soap featuring Salford FC and the fabled class of '92 - with the added bonus of the corporation piggy-backing their coverage of the 1st round of the FA Cup on top of the already ubiquitous trailers for the 52 part programme....
What next? The BBC will probably schedule a highlights programme from an all-stars charity football match staged at Old Trafford; featuring David Beckham and SAF plus a host of MUFC legends.
Under the Government's review of BBC licencing etc. I hope they push for more balance in their football-related programming.
Perhaps a season of programmes featuring one of the 'sleeping giants' now languishing in the lower leagues. Some clubs much more deserving of a raised profile than a successful franchise and global brand.
Should the BBC be chasing ratings off the back of this particular cash cow and investing licence fee money in it's indirect promotion???

The BBC are so up Man United's backside that it's painful. Their website is the same. Most of the articles written by McNumpty open to comments, are about United. Every England picture has to have Wane in it.

I liked the Class of 92, I felt entertained and enlightened after watching it.
By far one of the better things the BBC have done.
Just because it featured ex MUFC players and you support Liverpool dosent mean you can't enjoy it for what it was.
Plus I think all the ex united players came out of it looking good. It nice to see what they are doing for Salford FC.
Don't be bitter, life is too short, and as Jürgen pointed out - it's only football, we just want to be entertained.

^ Each to their own. I wasn't reviewing any individual programme in my article, just commenting on the ubiquitous nature of the recent MUFC related scheduling by the BBC. I think that's fair comment when the corporation's own charter requires it to provide balance in it's broadcasting - this should also apply to it's football related coverage.
That was my point. Bitter? I think not. Just expressing a valid opinion.
I'll leave the discussions considering the merits/quality of the individual programmes to others.

Hopefully the BBC will show "I Believe In Miracles" at some point in the near future.
Great film about Forest under Brian Clough & Peter Taylor. You must see this film - it's out on DVD now.
