Let's be honest...

...if Hooper/Jelavic/Davies/anyone from the Old Firm moves on today can we really blame them?

Who would really want to stay and ply their trade in the SPL in the current climate?!?!?! The brutal truth is the Championship has more to offer than our top league. A better standard of player, better grounds, bigger clubs. That's before you take the bigger money into the equation.

Christ, the Championship has more Euro participants than the SPL.

The entire Scottish season this year, and possibly for the foreeable future, is all about 4 games.

If Jelavic goes i'll be disappointed yes, but it's time to realise that imports like Jelavic and Hooper will never improve our game in the long run.

The SPL is a dead duck until our own youngsters are given a chance ahead of these guys.

Agreed but the current top league 12 team setup and the 3 leagues of 30 teams for a nation of 5m is ludicrous.

We need to radically overhaul our football system and investment, 2 leagues only of 18 teams, each team requiring to have an approved youth setup and closer ties to schools. Football should then be like apprenticeships with these youth players being the future for our top teams, we should instigate 25 man squads and demand that 18 of them are homegrown.

The problem with this is it is all long term planning and short term pain and noone has the balls to push through the changes needed and instead will jealousy covet what others have rather than go out and make it happen for ourselves.

Paisley-

Absolutely agree with you.2 x 18 team leagues incorporating a pyramid structure.Regional play off leagues for entry into league 2.Our game is over romanticised and self preservationist.Did East Stirling not go almost an entire season recently without winning a game?Yet they get to take their place the following season. If clubs at the top need to constantly modernise and invest those at the bottom must also,or simply move aside.

Joe Cole in talks with Villa - unlikely they would pay
£8m for Davis to sit on the bench.
