If Mahrez was the designated taker, then I'm not sure I'd agree with that kind of decision leading by a single goal and nearly half an hour left on the clock. As much as it my reflect well on comradeship, in circumstances like that you need to put the team's interest first. My 2p at least.
Totally different story if for whatever reason at that point he felt more confident of Vardy putting it away. In that case, I'd consider it the right decision, one taken for the team.

Totally agree with ioag there. Not a wise decision to sacrifice team goals for individual records. At that point of the game, the designated taker should take the pen.
