Another defeat, again to a team who have been struggling for form. As the title suggests it's hard to know where to start with the team, the most worrying thing for me is the total lack of fight. I was saying to my mate on the way back to the car that it says it all that we went through that match without a single booking. Now I'm not condoning foul play but there were times yesterday where you would be looking for a player to take one for the team and it didn't happen. Aberdeen are really poor just now but we managed to make them look like world beaters.
Szromnik - had more flaps than an edition of Hustler yesterday. Also had one stunning save but that was the only good thing. Missed every ball in the air. Also his kicking is absolutely atrocious. Every goal kick for us seemed to lead to an Aberdeen attack.
Dillon - skinned time after time, poor on the ball and doesn't seem to be a leader on the pitch. Had a shot in the second half that went just wide but that was it. Seemed to think that the safest place for the ball was out of play...
Dixon - great to see him back, swung in a couple of crosses that looked more like his old self. Put in a good shift and can rightly feel frustrated with his team mates.
Durnan - honking. Is there a reason he's getting a game ahead of Donaldson?
McGowan - plenty effort but with Durnan and Dillon playing so badly it's a big ask trying to hold it together.
Rankin - industrious would best describe his game yesterday...
Souttar - looks overweight and shockingly lazy, a couple of times we could have had a promising attack which was let down by Souttar's lazy passing, always behind the player. Lumbers about thinking he's a footballer. Hope he goes.
Fraser - too slow, too one footed, bottles every single tackle, plays with his head down. Was right through in the first half as the defence parted in front of him. He could easily have played in Taggart, instead chose to shoot and didn't even hit the target. Disgraceful. Missed an easy headed in the second half.
Spittal - worked hard but actually looked a bit out of his depth at times.
Taggart - anonymous, although I feel bad saying that because him and McKay actually got zero service, they're both quite small - high balls are not the answer.
McKay - must be tearing his hair out, high ball after high ball and a midfield which was posted missing most of the match - tough shift really.
Murray came on - wow. Utterly hopeless.
Johnson came on. Apparently.
We were second to every ball, no tackling, caught on the back foot time after time. I see Mixu has cancelled the break they were due. I also read that he had expressed surprise at their lack of fitness.
I'd be lying if I said it was £25 well spent yesterday...
Where to start

(Motherwell, St Mirren, Killie being the main contenders)

Well, you are correct about St Mirren, they are a number of places lower down.......

The problem is how far adrift we'll have become before we put any sort of run together. Also it's difficult to see where that run can come from. Every team who has been struggling had managed to get a result against us - Hamilton, Killie and Partick stand out, also to be honest Aberdeen - first win in seven for them yesterday. Absolutely pumped by Hibs midweek, I know they're flying right now but still. Just can't see where it'll come from.

Were Killie not in a similar predicament last season?

Didn't see the game yesterday but not at all surprised at what you're saying.
Apparently Mixu is giving them a mini pre-season during the break so hopefully it makes a difference.
I'm worried.

Me too, Ivan. A mini pre season? It's shocking that he even has to. Jackie really has left us in a hell of a mess. We were saying yesterday that it should make a difference when Paton, Dow and Erskine are available again, but I don't think that's until Christmas at the earliest.

I think that was the first game I've seriously thought that yes we will go down. We created absolutely zero in the whole game. It's tough where to start on rating players but for me it was Dixon who was the only one with pass marks.

I suppose Dixon being decent is an improvement. Shows that it was (yet another) undiagnosed injury that was holding him back. Now if the rest of the squad could go in for surgery...
