French radio station Europa 1 has released a transcript of a 20-minute conversation between Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema and a friend discussing an alleged s·ex tape of his France team-mate Mathieu Valbuena, in which the striker appears to explain how he negotiated with Valbuena to stop the video from being made public.
Benzema said that he has told Valbuena: "If you want the video to be destroyed, my friend will go and see you in Lyon."
Benzema added that Valbuena thought it was a joke, before saying: "I don't think he's taking us seriously."
Benzema then told his friend how he convinced Valbuena that it was not a joke, and explained that Valbuena could be identified in the video by his tattoos.
"I told him: 'I can help you out. You have to see this guy. You have my word that there are no more copies'", Benzema continued.
"If you want the video to be destroyed, my friend will go and see you in Lyon and you can sort it out with him directly."
"But can you see my tattoos in the video?" asked Valbuena, to which Benzema said he replied: "You can see everything." Benzema is also believed to have revealed that he saw the alleged video a week before joining up with the French side.
The Real Madrid striker then tells his friend that Valbuena started to panic over the conversation, before Benzema added: "You can do whatever you want. Ok, If you don't want to pay, it's your life but I have warned you."

"Taking US seriously". "You have my word there are no more copies". Really, Karim?
I'm no legal eagle, but if the above translation is accurate it seems to me that Benzema's lawyers have an uphill task if they want to keep him out of jail.
Porridge for Benzema

If I ever go to prison, I'm going to opt to serve my time in France. Surely the European freedom of movement legislation should stretch to that.

Ioag I mean, it's not money and valbuena and benzema are meant to be on good terms (well I heard that on here, anyway)

Yeah. Only yesterday AFP published some statements from Valbuena's lawyer saying the player felt "no particular animosity" towards Benzema, before going on to say "Certainly if we discover that all this is true, he (Valbuena) will not be his friend."
It may well be true that Benzema saw it as a way of getting Valbuena out of a fix whilst helping his childhood friend too, but it was downright stupid of him to go into such detail over the phone.
The guy's had quite a few brushes with the law now. Totally idiotic to make so life so complicated for yourself when everything's going your way.

Then you could blackmail the bank to see how much they're willing to pay to get their money back.
I could act as your middle man.

Benzema doesn't have possession of the video so I guess he'ill claim he was just mediating, and trying to help out Valbuena

He will, but he's already charged on two counts, one for "complicity in an attempt to blackmail" and another for "conspiring to commit a criminal act".
