So not to hijack a thread, and to continue something i have read on a few different threads now, what big games have disappointed you and why?
I am with melton (who got me thinking to make the article) and for me i was massively disappointed with MGS V, now dont confuse this with saying its a bad game, it isnt, and i have enjoyed playing and at some points it is amazing, but for every great mission that lasts 30mins - 1 hour there are 10 hours of boring stuff that i found to be exactly the same after the first 30 mins of sneaking around.
And motherbase, i really dont get it, its pointless - it only serves to pi $$ me off with its illogical design and staircases that go up 4 levels and randomly stop, collecting soldiers was sort of fun until you realise certain specialists arent in the wild (wish i had found this out before spend almost 5 hours to find a certain guy ).
Take out all the unnecessary stuff you have an amazing mgs title, with all the "extra" stuff it basically bores the crap out of me doing exactly the same thing and dilutes what would be an amazing experience.
Big games that disappointed you

Exact same sentiments for me with MGS Simon.
I think with quite a few of the recent games, the issue has been unfulfilled potential that has led to the feeling of disappointment. I'm yet to play a game on the new gen that has had the innovative gameplay that we were spoiled by in the previous gen, it has been more a case of sequels that add very little apart from improved graphics (at the cost of decent story telling).
We're still waiting for that classic. No mans sky may be it, I fear again that once the initial sense of wonder is over, that might get a tad repetitive too though.

I feel then melton my friend you need to wait for vr, as the problem you are talking about is the issue that games are already within reason the most complex they can be with the current hardware available and yes I include pcs in this statement. We are close to certain ceilings meaning we are only really gonna see updates/sequels refining the process rather than anything new, come on the only thing that "looks" different on the horizon is dreams and after see some game play footage it seems like its just little big planet for adults. And yeh can't say no man sky is gonna be that different, the concept is interesting but it doesn't bring anything game wise that is new.

I see what you're saying Simon and to a point I agree, one thing I do take issue with is your statement about Dreams being a LBP for adults, are you suggesting adults couldn't play LBP? cause I spent a lot of time with my kids playing that game and the creative aspect of the game was amazing.
Dreams is looking like more of the same, Oh and I think Until Dawn deserves a mentionas something different this gen.

But I agree VR is a real game changer this gen

Actually saying the opposite which is I don't see kids playing dreams, lbp had hooks for kids, dreams doesn't

Dreams? Lbp?
You guys buying new beds??

I do wonder how many people who bought LBP actually went on to explore creating their own levels, for me that was a huge part of the game and amazingly simple to do with some powerful tools at your disposal.
Anyone with LBP really should check out the level creation options

Alien colonial marines was a putrid pile of stinking awfulness.

Alien games are never big though because everyone knows from the outset that they will be pants.
