Nev - it is true that the England manager can only utilise the players that are at his disposal. I don't think there's a manager in the world that could win a trophy for England and we were horribly shown up against Spain on Friday: Too many players wanting too many touches was a big factor, but more than that I just don't think our players have enough footballing intelligence to play against the best teams. It was the old adage of a team of individuals and they weren't playing as a unit. Hodgson only has so much time with them to foster that team ethic and understanding, so the players have to adapt quickly and I simply don't think ours can.

We've lucked out with a top seeding in the draw for the Euro groups, meaning that we should make the second round; however, as soon as we meet a Spain or a Germany we'll doubtless find ourselves horribly outclassed once again and be unceremoniously dumped out of the tournament.
