Back to haunt us?

Just heard Leicester have had a £4million bid for Beckford accepted by Everton.

1884, was speaking to a friend of mine who is Man City supporter.

I asked him if he is happy knowing the success is being bought or if he would rather it was done through uncovering gems etc,

The game has changed. We might not like it but it has changed.

Enjoy the ride!

So you feel that because Leeds were mistreated in the past, presumably by the FA, then it's Leicester City that simply must pay? And if we were to go out of business, you'd drop this feeling of being owed?

I question your supporting of Leeds for over 40 years as your contributions are that of a 14 year old. This bizarre feeling of being owed and that someone must pay is going to consume you my friend. Time to move on.

1884, I can vouch for Walsall, he's a good lad.

I think a massive problem around our penalties were Bates.

He blamed all and sundry - FL, HMRC, every other league club etc and many fans believe what he says and apportion the blame according to his lead.

Personally, the blame is all down to Bates.

He claims he didn't review the books when he bought Leeds, he has only himself to blame if that is true.

Bates decided to run up debts and not pay creditors.

Bates/Taylor delayed providing FL with documentation during and after admin etc.

No one owes us anything except Bates.

Football has to regulate/govern better to try and avoid these sorts of situations in the future.

People liek Ridsdale, Bates, Gilette/Hicks etc should not be allowed to leave football in the mess they do.

Do you really think that your owners are just "giving" the club all this money?
They are going to want success, and if it doesn't come fairly quick, a few chickens will be coming home to roost.

Having said that, I am just a bit jealous

What was his response Jonty?

I have in-laws who are lifelong Man City fans, they were concerned at the beginning (with all the spending and not a lot of success to show for it) but are now so happy to see the likes of Aguero choosing 'their club' over other, more established clubs. We would all love to be able to rely predominently on home-grown talent from our youth set-ups, and sometimes one or two come through, but until you are Man Utd (who themselves still spend relatively large sums purchasing youngsters) you have to assume you need to buy talent and then hope additional talent also rises up.

Thanks Jonty - I had a feeling it was down to Bates in some way but not having followed it that closely when it all kicked off I wasn't too aware of the ins and outs. Just a shame its the Leeds fans that end up paying.

bluebellbagger - I agree with you, the owners do want success and they want it fairly quickly. The person who should be most worried right now is Sven (who I am seriously unsure about - tactically naive for this level), although of course the longer we stay in this division the more worried the fans should get.

1884, he is all for the success, but worried about what comes afterwards.

If we could get into a situation where players WANT to play for us then the youth would come along with it. We all know we're capable of producing Premiership quality youth, but a lot of them get attracted to Premiership clubs before they even enter the limelight, some get into the limelight and then leave such as Delph, Danny Rose etc. The players that went to Chelsea and Everton. Once we're in the Premiership I reckon we'll have a fair few decent players coming in in the years after.
