Who agrees with his criticism of Rooney?

Not setting a proper example?

Wrestling is a bit of fun and he went with his son, absolutely nothing wrong with what he did, in fact I thought he came out of it well and showed he can enjoy life.

Keane was a great player but he finds it hard to accept that players have lives outside of football.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Keane's point is clearly that Rooney should be doing everything in his power to live up to his role (and salary) at the club, and getting himself into good shape would be a start, so maybe he should spend a bit more time in the gym than slapping wrestlers.

Obviously if he was banging in the goals all else would be forgiven; equally, when his on-field performances are so poor, it is right to scrutinise each and every aspect of his life and ask "is this helping him to improve as a footballer". For £250k a week the club is quite within its rights to expect Rooney to eat quinoa not pizza, drink milk not beer, spend an hour a day in the gym, and be in bed by 10. Rooney has 2 years (max) at the top of the game, he can do his silly stunts when he is retired.

In the context of his questionable form so far this season i don't think being publicly ridiculed by a wrestler about his performance for utd did him or utd any good.

I have to say some of the things Rooney has said about his future since the summer added to the tv programme with lineker and one gets the sense that he is almost celebrating his career whilst still playing it. Its strange

Good point, at 30 he should be focused on what he can still acheive rather than what he has already done. Something which Paul Scholes and Giggs in their late 30s didn't even do. Has he found his laurels and decided to have a rest?

Don

Yes he should be expected to do that but an evening enjoying a wresting fight with his son doesnt deserve to be criticised. What's he supposed to do?

He should have taken some dumbells to the wrestling, maybe done a few pressups and stuff.... Footballers should be in the gym whenever not on the pitch.

Seeing Rooney publicly ridiculed in that fashion was cringeworthy. Don't know what he was thinking about.
He should have just enjoyed the show with his son.

I saw Keane's dig at Rooney regarding that wrestling situation as a wider question about his (Rooney) overal career at United.Very good player no doubt but he could've been much better if he had more dedication.

Also think its refreshing now that someone such as Keane has came out and questioned our captain while people like Scholes and Linekar give him nothing but false praise.
Simple fact Rooney hasnt been good this season and last.

Off the pitch? Is this the same Roy Keane who spent the night in custody a couple of nights before an FA Cup final and was out getting pi**ed up during USA '94? He really is full of it sometimes, as much as i loved him as a player.
