Anthony Martial

how bad is he?. Imagine paying over £50m for this dud .

People were slamming Wenger for not signing him after those 2 decent games he had when he first joined. Now he has been found out already.

Fickle Utd fans had him as the best young striker in Europe . Wouldn't even swap Joel Campbell for him.

Looks like I was right, apart from maybe Dier who has impressed

Martial is class. Drop Rooney and play him up front and the goals will flow. He is wasted out wide.

No that's complete bullshiiiiiiit. Moyes has always loved Rooney, he was never going to let him leave. Fergie would have sold him.

Opinion on Rooney has also been very split for many years. Mamy didn't want him to be given a new contract, many did, it makes no difference either way as the club would have given him a new contract as the club, the player and the manager wanted it.

If you think the fans had anything to do with it, or could have changed it, then you really fail to understand modern football clubs, especially massive clubs like United. The fans mean fack all, look at the green and gold campaign.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This was a different thing though. This was a player. They tend not to want to stick around if fans REALLY get on their backs. No matter how much money they're offered. Personally I thought the way he kicked the club when it was down was unforgivable and worthy of the fans hounding him out for trying to stick it to the club when it was in trouble.

Most Utd fans just accepted it and some even had the cheek to defend Rooney after what he'd done. I remember I was angrier about his snake-belly low merc'ing (not just normal merc'ing, this was lower than low) than your average Utd fan.

Think I remember you not being to impressed with him though. But not bothered enough to shout "Boooo!! Get out you money-grabbing git!" come match day.

Nah Rooney wouldn't care. Plus booing your players when the club was in the situation it was in on the pitch at the time doesn't exactly help. Moyes got plenty of support from the fans in the stadium, plus booing Rooney isn't going to make him decide to leave or force the club to sell. You're clutching at straws here.

He's a tidy little act for sure. But had Wenger bought him, he wouldn't have been keeping Theo out of the side.

Maybe. I just think that the fans should have turned on him the way he turned on the club. And the fact they didn't made his disgusting behaviour that bit easier for him to pull. To be honest I was surprised that SAF didn't squash the whole thing from upstairs anyway. I presume there was some money aspect getting Utd paid somewhere, making the deal viable so Moyes was just left to get on with being mugged.

It was the op who used the term back up yeh moron

----

It doesn't matter who used the term, since I'm commenting on the fact you dispute it not the term itself...moron.

=========

Oh and potential Walcott back up martial was in a team that embarssed you lot in the CL last season

----

And starter ahead of Martial in any team in the world, Walcott was in the team that embarrassed you lot in your own league, last month, so what's your point?

You got a short memory sonny. See I don't remember young Martial having ANY influence on that game. Walcott on the other hand ripped you lot to shreds without even scoring. Smalling and Blind looked awfully tired
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The point is moron there no such thing as the term back up when you are trying to sign one of the best young players in the Europe especially one who has already established himself in one of the top teams in France a team that tore you to shreds twice last season.

Can you imagine

Bon jour Anthony Arsene here

Would you like to sign for arsenal as back up to Theo. I know you are first choice with monaco and every top club will want to sign you and I know you are about to break into the france team but we will pay you shizit money and with Theos injury history you will get few games.

thats really tempting but No thanks Arsene. You can tell everyone in the future that you tried to sign me

Back up...... lmfao

How did he turn on the club? I don't like Rooney but him signing a massive money contract is hardly turning on the club, turning on them would have axtually been to leave.

A player of his standing commands big wages at clubs like United. Hell we were paying Falcao a similar amount coming off the back of an acl.

If the club are stupid enough to pay these players these wages then it's their fault not the player for negotiating it - you're acting like he forced them to pay him.

Also with United being such a big global brand these players have a influence on said brand and as far as I'm aware with the bigger names this is taken into account with their contracts.

My biggest problem with Rooney is he's a petulant, scouse twaaat and doesn't perform on the pitch, not what he earns.

But that was down to Moyes and the money men not the fans for not kicking up a fuss or Rooney forcing them to pay him that much.

LOL

Exactly

Was starting to wonder had you got another Theo in your squad or were we talking about the same not quite fulfilled his promise, inconsistent, injury prone Walcott.

Go ask Blind and Smalling how injured he was when he dragged them all over the gaff. Obviously Martial would play when Walcott was injured. THAT'S why he'd have been and ideal backup. But make no mistake, for the next couple of years at least. Walcott would be selected by any manager ahead of Martial,

I can't deny the injuries (actually have an issue with the the Arsenal physio) but inconsistent???? Pretty sure he's consistently frightened/terrorised EPL defences for quite some years now. He's consistently provided Arsenal with goals. And before you say it, yes that was as a winger. He's looking rather consistent at CF too according to his goals to games ratio (substantially better than Martial's)

I'm not denying Martial's talent. I'm just saying he still has a lot to learn about football. Raw talent can only carry you so far. And everything that Martial has to learn, Walcott already knows. Go and watch the game we battered you in last month over again. This time watch Walcott. Watch closely how he drags your defence everywhere. Then you will see exactly why he would be picked ahead of Martial by any manager with half a brain.

To be fair all you need to do is ask yourself "If LVG could have gotten Theo Walcott for 50 million, would Martial be a Utd player now?" You know as well as I do, the answer to that question is a big fat NO!
