Remember when...

For a brief period, we were forced to play an attacking line up. It's fading fast for me too.

--------------De Gea---------------
Valencia Smalling Jones Blind
-----------------Carrick--------------
----------Herrera---Fellaini--------
Mata--------------------------Young
----------------Rooney--------------
Or something close to this anyway, I miss this :/

busby, of course those teams would. They are both the best pressing sides in the league. They'd come right at us and not give us a seconds break.

No way would Liverpool play a line that high against us now.

With Klopp in charge are you sure about that?

Something like this when everybody's fit:

--------------------------------De Gea-----------------------------

Darmian------------Smalling--------------Blind-------------Shaw

----------------------Schweinsteiger/Carrick---------------------

--------------Herrera-------------------------Schneiderlin---------

Lingard-----------------------------------------------------Memphis

----------------------------------Martial------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Like it TRS.

BS better suited to the deep role as I feel that would allow him to dictate and MS and Herrera can press further forward as I feel that have better engines. I would still like to see BS or Carrick step forward as well as play develops and MS could step back to fill in.

Maybe this team would be inconsistent up front but the pace offered by that three would make us more dangerous IMO while also not affecting the passing style too much. Marrying the two together will be LVG's hardest job but if he can do that the future would look good.

that some of those players are injured op

maybe lvg is trying to deal with injuries he has

i am pretty certain if shaw didn't bust a leg or rojo wasn't constantly injured we'd be in a better position. we'd be able to push young forward where atleast he provides some threat. we're lacking in pace and players playing out of positon don't help.

lingard (as wasteful as he is) was also a threat which wasn't available yesterday.

depay has been mostly dire and martial has gone of the boil a bit and has missed some big chances. were relying a lot on youngsters so inconsistent performances with come with the territory.

no way should anyone expect us to win a title this season. we are 2-3 signings short of that

And look what happened, we beat them both.

Funnily enough city were happy enough to sit back again us.

Only Arsenal have been able to come out and smother us. But look at the silly points they're dropping (I say as they concede another sloppy goal to Norwich).

Again, add a couple of dynamic players (I feel Depay could be one), and we become a real force.

My thoughts exactly DC77.

I like the balance of the side, well on paper at least.

Everybody bar Blind in natural positions, there are three good passers in the side, there are players with pace who are willing to run in behind and stretch the play, there's plenty of energy and mobility in the middle and in Herrera I think you have our most useful player when it comes to breaking teams down.

Would love to see that side or similar given time to develop and form an understanding.

Yes, and do you know how we beat them? Fellaini Is the best weapon of all against pressing sides because when they press us, we can bypass their whole attack and midfield and get the ball to Fellaini.

the only positive of United's football atm, is it makes being forced to watch Strictly Come Dancing seem more more exciting than it actually is

Nobody presses United. There is simply no need to.They allow United to play from side to side 35-40 yds out and comfortably cut out any through balls or stop Martial going past 3 players. Newcastle for crissakes are the worst team in the league,i was there and they snuffed out this side easily. Not knocking leicester or psv but leicester back 4 are a mishmash of players whose better days are behind them you would have thought. Morgan and Huth had the cigars out for the whole 2nd half.PSV are not reknown for clean sheets against any side away in europe but it was easy for the last 60mins.
We can all see it and what is disturbing most is Giggsy can see it and clearly has no input into tactics whatsoever.
