Sometimes

Sometimes you play against relegation fodder and they play really really well and you just have to take your hat off and say they played brilliantly.

Today was not one of those days. It was a dreadful performance from Newcastle and an even worse performance from Liverpool who were absolutely terrible!

That today is a bad bad result. I knew we'd struggle against a crap team as we seem to at the moment. This needs to change, no point beating Chelsea and City to lose to Newcastle and Palace.

Bad day, poor performance but these sorts of games happen. I thought Newcastle would get something today. After 10 minutes you could tell how it would pan out. 1 goal from us at any time would've knocked the stuffing out of them but didn't get anywhere near tbh.

True, Moreno's goal should have stood but we didn't offer enough in every department.

Newcastle were poor, sadly we were poorer...

How Allen got away with wing booked I'll never know, spent the whole game constantly fouling

Starting Benteke as a lone striker was a mistake in hindsight and we missed Coutinho a lot today.

Most teams would when he is on form, even when he isn't he is a distraction to the opposition.

Thought there were a few mistakes from the manager today. That was one, playing Milner in midfield, with Lucas and Allen. If we are going to play Lucas and Allen, they need to be sitting, with somebody more attacking ahead of them, like Firmino. We could have then had Milner right, who is much better there and has a good cross, which Benteke could work from. Ibe could have played left.

Also throwing Skrtel up, leaving us open to the finishing blow, when we could have kept Benteke on and added to attack with Sturridge. He was very isolated when he came on and having to drop deep.

However that wouldn't have come into it if Benteke had finished the sitter he missed and the assistant been able to keep up with play to enable him to make the correct decision on Moreno's goal.

Newcastle did their job well and it has to be put down as they deserved to win, despite those errors.

So starting Benteke was a mistake after his sitter miss?

nothing to do with his miss

from open play we looked disjointed
