just back from the game, wasn't expecting much tonight but was really pleased how we played. Onomah is going to be top class imo, you can just tell with certain players, the way he moves, receives the ball, watching him live makes me think he will be a top player for us. Players around him showed great energy tonight and application. Son is an interesting one for me, a couple of mugs around me were giving him pelters tonight, now I admit he did lose the ball to much at times, but watching him live his game intelligence and the positions he gets into makes us so much more dangerous then when he is not in the team. He finds space so easily and always receives the ball on the half turn and looks to play forward, anyone else agree with this or am I missing something

Onomah plays like Sterling when he broke into the Liverpool team at 17. Full of confidence, not just a head down and dribble player but plays with intelligence and also very willing to chase back and win the ball. He looks a real player.

I was travelling yesterday, but noticed Son and NJie were getting a few pelters.
I asked those watching if their pace and movement were good, and you've ansered me there, for Son anyhow
On the face of it, Lamela starts the Newcastle game, with Dembele and Eriksen.
But does Lamela score a hat trick last night without the space provided by the likes of Son and NJie? I'm not so sure

yeah lamela has to start after the hat trick his confidence will be high, does look unrecognisable from the player of the last 2 seasons. Sons movement is top class, once it all clicks for him he will be massive for us imo. Njie is very raw, he has talent and work his socks off so I think he can come good

Personally I think Son makes us look a better team when he starts. A bit of pace does, generally, it makes us a better attacking unit.
Ideally for me, I'd only go with two of Eriksen, Lamela and Dembele/Alli in those forward three positions behind Kane, with Son, NJie or Townsend taking the other spit

I wouldn't have Townsend anywhere near the picture to be honest. I still think that there's a nice understanding between Lamela, Dembele and Eriksen so I'd stick with that for the weekend.
Son will come good, but right now he doesn't deserve to start ahead of those three I feel.

The problem with those three is lack of pace and any width.
Kane isn't the quickest either, and I think a quick runner in that front four helps us immensely - rather than everything played in front of the other back four, they have an extra threat to worry about.
Not always about putting the best XI players out, it's finding a good balance. I think Son gives us that.
I mention Townsend as an option, along with NJie. They are the three paciest, direct attacking players we have

When you look at our best attacking performances this season, Son is a pretty consistent presence - City, West Ham, Monaco. Bournemouth the exception, but the others are much better sides

Son is class, he needs to work on the ball retention however the space that he creates really provides space for the others. I admire the way he looks to go forward every time he receives the ball.

Every team needs a player or two who just makes things happen. Who is direct and whose primary aim is to attack. That's what son does - he might not always keep the ball, but he will have a shot, or try a through ball, or a cross, and if they come off 50% of the time then goals will happen.
Not every player needs to be able to make every pass, because a lot of those passes will be safe or sideways and that doesn't threaten the other team.
Think what Utd would give for a player like son right now.
He is still young and new to the league but he makes things happen and is direct, we need that in the team
