Like most fans I have been waiting for some positive news on a potential take over. My own view is that with the current group of bidders a take over is not going to happen because they don't have the money.
Martin Samuel wrote an article 18 months ago about the dynamics of a football club take overs which went along the lines of serious bidders do not make any announcements in the press or have problems demonstrating proof of funds they just quietly go about their business and them make an announcement that they are the new owners.
By all accounts Eddie Davies has written off the debt and as a result the Wanderers is up for sale for £15m ( Ground, hotel, training facilities and players) plus another £15m to fund the club until the end of the season and we have no takers - so what is wrong. Birch has not sanctioned a deal because none of the bidders have got the necessary funds.
Administration and AFC Bolton is only a few weeks away.
What has concerned me for some time is that Eddie Davies must have approved the players, wage bill and budget for the season back in the summer so why has he let this disastrous situation happen.

Trevor and HMRC have their remits they will decide the next step. Either Ed agrees what Trev takes to him or the judge rubber stamps a request.
Sit back enjoy the ride. There's plenty of fun and games on here over the silly season to enjoy while we wait.

I believe Eddie has only agreed to write off his money if a takeover is completed BEFORE administration but other than that Pasty's right, this one could drag out for quite a while and I don't think we've seen all the twists and turns in the plot just yet. Chin up Burnden63, remember we've been here before and got through it. Lest we forget half our car park got sold for a Supermarket. I still have my Normid shirt (but there was a LOT less of me then so all I can do is look at it ) and I can still remember the joy we all felt when we got PROMOTED to Division 3. We weathered the storm in the 80's, I still believe that even if we go into admin as is now very likely we'll weather this one too in the end.

The Trotters are my second team due to family ties so following with interest. Remember the Normid being built and wondering how odd it looked. Enjoy trips up to the Reebok (refuse to call it by its daft new name) with Forest so don't want to see it all go to the dogs.

Burnden 63 only Ed knows why he sanctioned the wages. It's just another indication of how badly the club has been run over the last few years.
Personally I agree with the sentiments that the club will go into administration. None of the bidders seem to have the money to secure the club otherwise it would have happened before now.
I can't understand why anyone would try to buy a football club without sufficient funding to run that club.
As Pasty keeps saying, TYRE KICKERS.

It appears to me that Davies lost interest a few years ago and hasn't really been keeping an eye on things.
