January Transfers ....

Really think Garde has his work cut out on getting the right type of players in the window. The problem being, will certain players want to join us in the predicament we are in ?? By the time the window arrives we could realistically be completely cut adrift. It is worth us buying players for the championship ?? What worries me is that although Garde probably does have a decent knowledge of players, he in my view will probably buy foreigners that will ultimately take time to settle. I have already said i think we are definitely going down so maybe it would be good to bring in players that will give us the best chance of getting out the Championship, as hard as that may be.

Main problem is the owner wants to sell so will he realistically put up a good amount of funds in January? He has to gamble in my opinion as when he does sell he will get for a lot more for a club in the premier league than not.

Villa look really poor at the moment but a couple of quality signings could easily make the difference.

Problem is how much do you need to spend in Villa's current predicament ?? We need a left back, perhaps and centre back and 2 quality striker !!! So that is around 50 odd million plus !! We should go out for Charlie Austin but i actually think he would probably turn us down !

Debuchy on Loan?
Rhodes/Gabby swap?
Loic Remy on Loan?

3 I would consider good signings

Think a few quality loan signings is the way to go. Why? Because I don't think any quality players will sign for us knowing we'll likely be in the Championship next year. Any if we do, we'll probably attract some mercenaries who are only interested in picking up their pay packet each week

This is the last thing we need as we have some players like this already N'Zogbia, Agbonlahor etc

We need some players who are quality, hungry and with something to prove to themselves and their current club.

Remy - would be perfect if we can get him from Chelsea. Scores goals.

Townsend - would be worth the risk if he's injury free

Debuchy is a good shout for a defender. Maybe Gibbs for a left back? Monreal seems to have that left back position sewn up at Arsenal.

Debuchy wants to leave but I hope not. Wenger wouldn't get a replacement in he'd just use it as an excuse to play Chambers more

Talking of Chambers woyld you take him on loan? Not sure he'd improveyou much but can play a few different positions

Can't see Gibbsgoing anywhere he seems happy as back up

I'd gamble on getting some quality from the lower divisions. They'd love to step up to the PL even for just half a season and then they'd be happy to play in the Championship too.

The likes of Walsall or Burton might be worth raiding. There must be some more Vardy-like talent out there.

Get one of them and, you never know, they might score a shed-load and keep you up!

I'm from Walslal and go watch them quite often. They're having a good season and the 3 stand out players are Tom Bradshaw, Romaine Sawyers and Rico Henry.

Bradshaw is a striker who has a very good scoring record with us. He's around 22/23 so has room for improvement but can't see him ever making it to the very top

Sawyers is an attacking player who can play in any of the front four attacking positions. Has the strenght and pace to play in the PL and has been walsalls best player this season imo. He was linked with you during the summer. He's around 23/24. I reckon he'd do quite well in the PL

Rico Henry is an 18 year old left back so might not fit your current needs but he has the potential to be a top top player someday. Been compared to a young Ashley Cole, Very quick and brilliant going forward. Possibly the best talent walsall have ever produced and is being linked to some of the big teams. Due to his style of play his future may be left wing instead of left back

Romaine Sawyers was a product of West Brom's academy. I would be seriously pizzed off if he went to Villa and started banging them in.

Cole would happy to move to Coventry on a permanent basis. I'd be surprised if Kozak didn't take an offer from Celtic. So that's two. Garde has made it clear he doesn't want players around who don't buy 100% into his philosophy, so those on the sidelines are going to come under pressure to move even if they'd rather stay; I think that probably includes Gabby, Richardson and N'zogbia. That's just the start.

Bennett will be back in January; Garde won't know too much about him but might take a chance on him at least as back-up. Ideally he'll get another LB, one with class. Bacuna is a stop-gap solution but could be worse, and is a useful utility player, so can't see him going. There's been talk of Ashley Cole, outstanding in his day but is he match fit? There is the other Ashley as well, Young!

Would Garde get in a new goalkeeper? Maybe. If Guzan leaves I think he'll head home to the States, where there's plenty of opportunity.

Where do we get an effective striker from? My gut feeling is that Austin doesn't want to come to Villa.
