I remember Mckenna being an inspirational, hard tacking midfield General and Captain under Billy Davies first spell at the City Ground. Unfortunately he suffered a serious injury from memory and was never quite the same player after that. Still 38 is a fine old age to reach as a Profesional Footballer.
Good luck Paul for the future.
"Former Preston North End midfielder Paul McKenna has left Bamber Bridge and hung up his boots.
McKenna, 38, joined Brig early last season after more than a year out of the game.
He put in some impressive performances for them, helping Brig reach the NPL First Division North play-off final.
Brig manager Neil Crowe said: “Paul has just decided to hang up his boots, he feels the time is right.
“It has been a privilege having him at Bamber Bridge, he has done really well for us and raised the professionalism at the club.
“Paul has given up so much of his time to football and wants to spend more time with his family.
“People don’t realise that even at non-league level, it is a big commitment."
McKenna, who hails from Eccleston, came through the youth ranks at North End and made more than 470 appearances for the club, being a key part of the PNE side which got promotion under David Moyes in 1999/2000.
He joined Nottingham Forest for £750,000 in July 2009 and after two seasons there, moved to Hull City on a Bosman.
In the second-half of the 2012/13 campaign, he played for Fleetwood Town on loan."

Great player who I think was massively underrated at Forest.
Best of luck to him

Had the heart of a lion that lad. Really knew how to motivate the team and drag them through over the finish line.

Agree Will. He is the best captain I have seen in a Forest shirt. Yes even better then Cohen I have to admit.

Yes, he was the best since Psycho IMO in terms of the respect from his players.

I agree, you could see how all the players looked to him in times of trouble.
Also when he was injured there is no coincidence how we fell away dramatically with our results.
If he had stayed fit and we had brought Shorey in then I am certain we would have been promoted the year we came third as we were better then West Brom at that time.
