We Need A New Captain!

What a mess our club is in. The fans are divided, we lost a top tier manager, players look unfit and we are a couple of points above the relegation zone.

Mourinho did make mistakes (letting Drogba and Cech go at the same time, the Eva situation, etc) but I think the club let him down big time. Mourinho wanted to make a few adjustments to complete the squad so that we can go again, if you remember the first time he won the league we made multiple signings and let go of a few players. The club couldn't for whatever reason and decided to sack a title winning manager who was performing badly but had support of the fans. The same board who bought some useless defenders to solve our defence! They couldn't wait for the transfer window so that we could let Mourinho bring in a few players. Mourinho will now go to Man U and clean up IMO, and some of us will be thinking what if?

Post Mourinho I think the club should concentrate to refresh the squad completely and I think we should start with the captain. Terry has been a true legend on the field, but a great captain performs off the field as well. I have heard from a reliable source (Mishcon de Reya employee who's a good friend) that Terry and Ivanovic were the ones actively sleeping with Eva and the squad knew this. Mourinho probably knew this as well, which is why I think he went OTT and made an example of Eva. It should have been handled behind closed doors and the club should have neutralised the situation quickly rather than drag it on. I don't blame the form of Terry and Ivanovic on this situation, but I think the squad had extra pressure to deal with which didn't help our already bad form.

The players are looking de motivated and are still on cruise mode. Many players looked unfit and void of responsibility. Mourinho is not our manager anymore so he can't be used as a scape goat by some fans, the truth is the players believe they are not accountable, which is a shame because many of us contribute to the club. We are not winning anything this season if we continue, and will struggle to hold on to some of our players.

Even though I am a huge supporter of Mourinho and disappointed the players and the club let him down, I'm a bigger supporter of Chelsea and I think it's about time we unite as a fan base and get behind the club and the players so we can turn this negative into a positive at the end of the season. It sounds a bit contradictory, but it's the only avenue us fans have.

I just pray Hiddink gives chances based on performances not reputation.
