I believe that United's decision to stick with LVG following such a terrible run shows that the club will not consider Jose as a manager. If we wanted him there is no better time. It could still transpire that Jose takes over from LVG but it looks less likely with every passing day.
If it is true that the club do not view Jose as a viable option then it strengthens by belief that he knew he wasn't even in the running back when SAF retired. At the time I felt that Jose wanted the United job and I think we are seeing some evidence of that with his agent fluttering his eyelids at United in recent weeks.
I know there are plenty on this board convinced that Jose's arrival was imminent but I just don't see it happening.

Whoever bought him he was a bad signing. Round that time a lot of the bigger Eurpoean sides were paying too much for average Brazilians desperate to uncover the next big thing.

Mata is a top player I have no issue with his fee and yes Fellini is dreadful cant deny that.

Who would you rather have looking after your club from top to bottom, Van Basten and Cruyff, or LVG?
Van Basten and Cruyff fell out with LVG about footballing "philosophy" for want of a better word which shows they disagreed completely, went to a court case.
Which shows that LVG is opposed to Cruyffs methods and vice versa.

The basic difference between Cryuff and LVG is that Cryuff wants players to express themselves and be creative, he sees football like art. LVG on the other hand wants players to follow every instruction given to them and see football more as a science.
Ideally you want a bit of both but when you have the players Barca have in recent years you can see why the ideas of Cryuff work so well and why so many Barca fans hate LVG with a passion.
LVG's philosophy suits teams with limitations, it's solid and doesn't allow for opponents to open them up easily. Problem is as he has got older he become even more pragmatic and even more stubborn to the point where his philosophy is flawed, especially at a club who want to compete for trophies.
