2015 was a disastrous year for Amla. He should try something different in 2016. What exactly I am not sure.

He should quit captaincy and concentrate on his batting. I thought Saffers would have had more depth in bowling department, but their back-up bowlers look awful... Not much a captain can do with that

Bit harsh Afridi whn your missing Steyn, Philander and even the backup Abbot you will struggle. How would England do without Anderson, Broad and Finn?
People are not actually acknowledging how good Vernon Philander is especially in SA. The guy averages some like 22 which really is something special.
The bowlers and injured and the batters are all hopelessly out of form. Not 1 or 2 but the whole team. Touring India really faked the up. De Plussis looked like a no8 batting ATM.

The best test team in the world didn't win a test in 2015. Have lost at home to Aus and were crushed in India and look likely to be soundly beaten at home.
Boss forgets that England did not have Anderson in the first test and they faired pretty well.
I would say that the phenomenal form of Amla and ABDV have taken the heat away from the rest of the line up who frankly don't look that good.
I'm delighted that SA have fallen because they play the boring attritional cricket that England did under Flower. Whilst I like to see England do badly I can't help but respect their new approach.

IMHO SA have been very lucky not to have had more injuries, most sides would not have been able to play so many tests with their first choice bowling attack, and now finally their depth has been tested and SA have been found wanting.
I don't deny that Philander is a very good bowler, but he has often looked ineffective on flat pitches so there is not guarantee that he would have made the difference here. Steyn is great and any team would miss him.

SA had Steyn for 1 innings where he got 4 wickets. Any team can cope with 1 injured front line bowler but with 3 out that's a tough ask.
The decline of SA happened as soon as the great Jacques Kallis retired along with Smith also hanging up his gloves.

Glad he walked out of captaincy to concentrate on his batting. He looked uncomfortable in that role.
