Jimmny jeepers thats FIVE first teamers out with the hamstring. I think Klopps pressing game is taking its toll, but IMO i actually think the lack of a pre-season with klopp in charge is hurting is more.
The best bits of this season look like a little taster of what (i hope) next season will be, its is a bit weird when we play awful one game then are superb the next, with squad players playing i may add; but i think the inconsistencies are to be expected. Klopp is working with one hand tied behind his back if not two; hes come in part way through a season and then impliments his pressing THEN gets an almighty injury list AND loses his best strikers with one out for the season..talk about difficult!
Tonight though was superb, we had everything against us, literally everything! A mf in cb, a 4th choice cb in the team, our best player injured, our cpt out and we faced Stoke away. We were aggresive, commanding and didnt back down under the long ball avalanche, so much for Stoke's fab 4 up front, we completely nullified them and tbh Stoke were lucky to get away with a 1 goal deficit. Whatever those 3 words were after the W Ham game, they had the desired effect, lets hope we can recover quickly and i guess its a scratch side vs Exeter, as long as they do there best.
Talk about "Hamstrung"..FFS!

Imagine that, a pundit you don't agree with.
Great player, great pundit.

Klopp defo introduced double training sessions but as righteous said last night we're playing that many games that I cannot imagine we're actually training huge amounts.
It's running 12k every three days with a squad of about 16. Being in the Europa and league cup semi's is hurting us just as it did last season.

im not sure how the pressing would really effect the CBs, obviously they have to move with the team but they aren't going to have to charge down the ball loads on long sprints, just the usual runs when a ball gets played through, or am i getting this completely wrong?

It's a fair point Adam and I really don't know what the answer is.
I think we have played more football than any other team in the prem this season though. Maybe it's just that??

I think thats the most likely reason mixed with the change in training methods or perhaps just pure bad luck, even then as kash said, its only Origi and Coutinho that are injured who haven't been injured recently.
Just read that Sakho's injury was from that tackle the other day, hopefully he should be back soon in that case

I like the way Jurgen kept his cool and trashed the question, during post-match interview, that 'training' i.e. his style of training was contributing to the hamstring injuries.
Effectively, it was an "if you want to, and you can print it anyway, and you probably will despite what I say, you can blame me. The fact of the matter is, that with the number of games we have to play, there is no training. Full stop. Only resting. That's all we have time for. But if you want to blame me, carry on."
Jurgen taking the p iss. Great to watch.

Listening to the totally unbiased BBC news, they quoted Souness's view that it might be down to Jurgens training, then showed the response by Jurgen, but chose to omit that there's no training, only resting. I just love consistency.

After Klopp's first game in charge i questioned how we will be able to keep up this high pressing game with loads more running over a period of time.
They have a nice break at xmas which lets the players relax their legs for a couple of weeks after the first half of the season. what do we do here in the UK? we get them to play 3 times as many games as anywhere else in Europe and hey presto our players can't handle the same impact as the europeans who have had a nice break.
It is not our players wither. We have been lucky with injuries over the last few seasons yet we have had loads all at once now. Coincidence?

The pundits have to come up with something to talk about
We won't really see the work of JK until next season
A few injuries is unlucky, that's all. Every club has it and there has been an intensive period of games

A number of points.
When Souness came down from Rangers to manage, I got a call the same day from up north and was told, " He's taking Phil Boersma with him, watch the number of Achilles heel injuries your team will suffer." Not wide of the mark at all.
Souness is highly rated by the TV moguls, he never makes notes, speaks from the heart, and, it appears true, everyone hangs on his words, his views never challenged. But, as was especially proved last night, he's only human, and he got it wrong. No mea culpa though, no apology.
Where? Before the game started he had written off both Joe and Lucas. LFC were there for the taking, they were to be beaten last night, no question. Neither player had it in them to stop the Stokey mighty front four, especially Allen. Deariemewhatashamenevermind.
It's nice to see the controlled, if I can put it that way, joy of last night's win. We are still a long way from Anfield South. And, Stoke cannot play as badly as they did last night.
Just a few thoughts.

Jimmy,
Souness brought in new training methods to Liverpool, methods that he was used to in Italian football and methods that were common place in Italian football. There were no problems in Italy at Sampdoria or in Scotland at Glasgow Rangers, where the same methods were used.
At the time Liverpool players were still eating fish and chips after games, and their diet and fitness was poor.
That's why the injuries started. The players weren't used to the new diet and fitness régime, and in comparison to what they were used to, it was an extreme contrast.
I'm guessing some of the squad aren't fit enough currently to play in Klopps high pressing game, and the new fitness regime is causing some problems.
It happened at United with LVG, and then settled. It will settle at Liverpool.
The bottom line is the squad aren't as fit as what Dortmund were under Klopp.
He is changing that, but injuries are inevitable.
