Todays big speculation regarding Arsenals transfer activity is an outgoing.
Allegedly Galatasaray are in advanced talks to secure the signing of Joel Campbell.
Strange timing perhaps? Campbell has had his first run in the Arsenal team and with Welbeck still a long way from fitness plus other injury concerns, it seems an odd decision to sell Campbell.
Campbell signed a contract extension a year ago - but it is suggested that contract ends this summer, making this January the last chance to make money on a transfer unless a new contract is signed.
The return of Alexis puts Campbells chances of game time in doubt, and with Serge Gnabry, Alex Iwobi and Jeff Reine-Adelaide available we have cover at the moment -albeit very inexperienced.
Any sale would increase expectation of an attacker being signed, but it remains to be seen if either the sale or any signings happen.
Joel Campbell.

I'd happily see him go if we brought in Auba, but as I can't see that happening, I see no reason to sell him when he's proving useful ATM

Plus he's 22 and actually has potential. Not the bigotted 'potential' the British media attributes to every British lad below 23 who is anywhere near a premier league first team.
Looking at you Grealish.

Yeah he's a decent player, could go on to be more but even if not the top teams need players like him in the squad.
No point losing him for the sake of it, only if he's replaced by someone who's a worthwhile improvement, which from what I've seen Auba would be.

He is garbage but we can't sell him, even if another forward is brought in

Would be stupid to get rid unless we have 2 wingers coming in.
Non story IMO.

I just can't believe we would sell anyone this month. Even if we were buying a direct replacement for Campbell you've no idea how long they would take to settle in, surely buy the replacement anyway and sell Campbell in the summer.

I don't think Campbell will go in this window. However, by the look of it Debuchy will which means Chambers will have to be our back up RB. Happy time .....

If it's not Mahrez we're bringing in then I wouldn't want to see JC allowed to leave, for what would be a pitifull transfer fee anyway. No non EPL winger is going to come and settle into the country league and team quickly enough. The next winger just isn't going to fly instantly like Sanchez did. I think that we're at a critical point. The balance of the team is too delicate to allow JC to leave. By all means bring in the new player, but Campbell must be kept. Because if new player doesn't fly instantly like Sanchez did, then we can still play JC so there's little or no disruption to the team and it's form. If Campell is gone, I can't say I have faith in Ox to carry the burden and deliver.
We want Theo back up front and Giroud on the bench so I am not counting him as a wing option long term.
