Can't believe there is not an article on here about 3rd round day. It used to be the most magical of days when grounds would sell out and you would crowd round the radio for the results.
Realise it has lost its magic and is an irritation to most but, to those of a certain age, what is your favourite memory of FACUP3rnd day?
Those were the days

The Roberts rocket against Sunderland in 1970.

Joachim's goal at Barnsley for me....obviously not the result but the fact thousands of us were packed in for the reply, and standing too.

To many the one against Southampton with keegan playing for them. But its really like the first game of the season. Anything is possible.
But for the first time since 1969 i don't mind if we don't do it because this the best chance we are going to have in the League as teams like Mank U and Chelsea will be a lot stronger next season imo.
So go on surprise me LCFC and beat Spurs our old FA cup enemy i am to young to remember 1961 but remembered the semi at Villa and poor old Ian Wilson

Without appearing to use the 'Roberts' surname in vain perhaps I ought to mention the very sad news of the death of the former Arsenal and Wales international defender John Roberts who recently passed away and was only in his 60's.
I remember the cheery, gigantic blonde centre-half who featured in the Gunner's double-winning team. He always appeared to be one of football's nice fellows.
Very sad news I have to say.

2006 beating spurs from 2-0 was 1 of my favourites. JJ goal at barnsley was pretty special and the away end when he scored went nuts. Palace in the early 90s too, Div 2 v. Div 1 and local Las Richard smith won it for us in the last minute - think they got to the final the year before too.

One of my memories, not a favourite one,was the dropping of Ken leek for the '61 final, with no social media, and tight lipped Leicester Mercury,it was a complete mystery,I was a young teenager then, but I am none the wiser now.

Apparently Ken Leek was dropped due to his celebrations during the semi finals. This allegedly proved to be our undoing in the final. Along with the fact we were playing with 10 men effectively due to the LB having a broken leg
