Fleetwood v ROVERS

This weekend we travel to Fleetwood to take on the Cod Army who are now managed by Steve Pressley. This week they have signed two strikers, Alex Kiwomya on loan from Chelsea and Devante Cole from Bradford City.

I would like to give you Pressley's views on the game, but his pre match interview didn't mention the Rovers at all. I shall, therefore give the view from the Keepmoat.

We have this week signed on a months loan, American Under 20 International striker/attacking midfielder Lynden Gooch from Sunderland.Darren Ferguson has been watching this young man for some time and was hoping to have got him before.

Some Sunderland fans have been wanting him in their first team squad ahead of England Under 21 Whatmore. He is a good lad, with a good work ethic and will fit in well with the rest of the squad Ferguson said.

After last weeks game against Gillingham, we picked up four injuries, Butler, Middleton and Cameron Stewart will definitely miss this game and possibly more, Nathen Tyson has a chance of playing but it looks unlikely.

"If they are not fit by Sunday and we get more injuries then I will look to go to the loan market again," said Fergie. He is comfortable with the back up he has defensively although I know a lot of us feel we do need another centre back.

Back to Cameron Stewart and his injury turns out to be more whiplash than anything else which is good news for him. The way he landed he could have done considerable damage to his back and neck. He will be allowed to take as long as necessary to get back playing.

Back in August the two teams met at the Keepmoat and Rovers, under Paul Dickov, won 2-0 with goals from Copps and Curtis Main.

For those going to the game you can get pints of Carling at Jim's Bar for 2 quid during happy hour, there will games on the big screens, Norwichv Liverpool and QPR v Wolves and you can buy the cheapest programme in the Football League for just one pound.

Sounds as though Gooch could be quite useful, but it seems like a golden opportunity to make ground on the top 6 has been lost especially as several of them came unstuck on Saturday. However if we could manage to win the home games and keep the unbeaten away record 2 points-a-game would be enough.

I'll try and see what Fergie said now on the OS if I can keep a connection!

I see he was very disappointed! Still, 2 good wins will make all the difference.

Just watched the highlights and from what I saw it looks like we have another good youngster in Gooch.
