Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin, Depay, Martial, Darmian and less so Romero.
I genuinely thought it was one of our best transfer windows in my time as a Utd fan at the time. And crazy thing is, I still do kind of bizarrely.
LVG couldn't be faulted for choosing any of those players Imo. Not even Romero if the plan was just as number two.
How has he managed to get so little out of them is a mystery to me. I think Depay has probably been most disappointing and probably along with Martial has most.talent. We've seen glimpses only. He's got the tekkers. Needs the brain and attitude though.
Darmian is another I still have faith in. He always looks solid for.italy. Probably because he has decent cover infront. Not Mata.
We've not got a vintage squad. But its not awful either. We do have talented players. Just no clue how to make them tick.
Last summer.....

"but this article is about the players signed, not the form."
And my view on that hasn't changed, we've bought relatively well, not brilliantly but haven't used them well enough. Put it this way, if LVG bought Alli we wouldn't be seeing anywhere near what we see from him at Spurs.

Not if he had Rooney in front of him
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know you're obsessed with pinning everything on Rooney but we're also awful without him.
Our main problem is that we have a manager who is past it and not able to adapt to the PL and who players can't warm to because he's such a stiff

We entered a period where we had west ham, Norwich, Bournemouth, stoke, a woeful Chelsea side, Liverpool and saints to play.
It doesn't matter how good arsenal, spurs, city and Leicester are. A capable manager would have seen us well inside the top 4 with most of those fixtures.

I'm Would this be the same Stoke who won tonight over a liverpool team you have been jiizing over for the last couple of months?
Or the woeful Chelsea team that beat arsenal, or the Southampton team that spanked arsenal a couple of weeks back?
The arsenal team that you claimed would win the league not that long ago?
Those easy games??

.........
Because we did not have any better. And that is lvgs main fault this year, thinking Rooney would be enough

I think they were all good signings. However the manager failed to address the 3 stooges, rooney, fellaini and mata
This will ultimately cost him his job

There was no issue with mata prior to the last few months.
No coincidence since his loss of form, we hardly create anything, as he was the only person assisting or scoring our goals.

It's really hard to tell how much is down to the players and how much is the tactics and man management of LVG. If the team in general was playing well and consistently winning it would be easier to pin it on individual players.
Memphis, I believe has something, and if he does fulfill his potential could be that game changer we need. Of course ideally in the coming years you would like a few. Imagine a front 3 of memphis martial and bale l, assuming the first two live up to the hype.
It's all well and good saying we need that game changer but to compete at the highest levels you need more than 1.

don tthink bale will be leaving madrid anytime soon tbf. hes had a much better season, ronaldo is getting older and they may have a transfer ban so coultn replace him anyway, and zidane seems a huge fan.

Yeah I don't think Bale is realistic.
We need our own Bale though, I just can't think of a single player with those attributes available.
Hazard worth spending £60m on?

We'll never get Hazard and tbh he's massively overrated

60m on a guy who hasnt scored a goal all season?
Absolutley not. He's been awful. And last season was hugely overrated.
he is actually the most overrated player in the world, or at least on par with john stones.
