On a more serious note as the poster above said it may be because of Joey's contract situation was why, but I do agree with you that some of the decisions of Tony Fernandez and big Les are sometimes a bit strange.

Yes, Bartons contract was up. He was on "silly money" about 70 bags a week ! No way he was going to get that offered again. It's ard to take a drop in wages. It was a shame because hes just the type of player we've needed this season.
