`Spirited` was a word used today to describe Villa at 0-2 down against City, then we have two pieces of inexcusable defending, which is best described as disgraceful for a team plying their trade in the top flight of English football (albeit for only 4 more months).
We've been woeful defensively for much of the season, seen a slight improvement in the last few weeks and this afternoon have gone back to type.
As a captain, Richards doesn't cut it for me I'm afraid, and today's back pass, although it didn't even reach `back', was truly awful.
Also, having away fans behind the goal again is not good and I hope this is not going to be a change that the board consider for next season. Then again, when `our board` and `decisions` are mentioned in the same sentenence I am usually left shaking my head in despair, so I expect to see several thousand away fans on their big day out next season cheering on their team.
I didn't expect anything against City today to be honest, but a good solid display would at least have built on our recent improvement. The way in which we conceded the last 2 goals, I found infuriating.
Don't get me started on Charles N`Zogbia!, who I understand is being told to train with the u21`s. What an example to set to them. If it was me he wouldn't be anywhere near the u21`s youngsters.
What an absolute joke we are.
Horrific defending

Villa never looked up for it at any stage and neither did the crowd which was dreadful
It felt like the club as a whole had given up which is very sad for a big club like villa
The championship is going to be very tough to get out of

Look on the bright side. At least it's confirmed that what's now our usual defence is worth sticking with and the rest are the rubbish we thought they were.
Hope it doesn't affect the spirits for Tuesday, and that those players playing both aren't too shattered.
As to the result, I'd rather we concentrated on the league. The next couple of games are vital.

As the OP says.. Villa looked still in the game at 2-0 down. If Gil had curled that free kick in, things might have changed.
But there is nothing you can do with such lousy defending.
Richards is shambolic. Bacuna not much better.

A bit harsh on Micah Richards. It wasn’t his back pass that led to the 3rd goal, it was Gana who made the error. I thought Micah played okay, really didn’t have much to do, but put his nuts on the line when it was needed. Ouch!!
It was always going to be difficult to beat Man City and our defeat was nailed on as soon as the board decided to give the Witton End to the away fans. Our team bottled it in front the away fans, from the very first corner. Guzan, useless as usual, but not helped by a pathetic attempt at a goal line clearance by Veretout. However, this is our ground and we should not put our players under this extra pressure. Keep both ends for home supporters. I know many season ticket holders refused to buy tickets for this, purely because of the board’s decision to give away their seats.
Veretout was terrible throughout and I fail to see what he brings to our team. I expect much more from a midfielder.
I thought Man City rarely troubled us but they really didn’t need to get out of first gear. It was like a training game for them and we never tested them, at all. I could have accepted the score if we had made them work for any of their goals.
Our attack is absolutely woeful. Ayew drops short to get involved and then we are left with nobody in the penalty area to offer any sort of attacking threat. The manager must take responsibility for this. However, our manager is not up to the task. As everyone expected, Garde was the wrong appointment. It was an inexplicable decision which left us with no chance of escaping the drop. The board’s fault, again.

Everybody didn't expect that Garde was the wrong appointment and many of us still think he was the right one. Another Sherwood type appointment wasn't going to work. The damage was done in the summer; the refusal to get a proper striker has cost us loads and loads. Garde has done as well as anybody could have.
Can't believe the Lescott/Richards rumours. Why would we sell them? Lescott is at the heart of our better performances; Richards is more of a mixed bag but he's more positive than negative.
