For a team who has just reached a cup final

We are embarassingly low on confidence.

I am expecting a huge clear out in the summer. It's clear we just aren't good enough. We have players who are hard working, and not awful technically, but we lack vision, dynamism, and someone who is willing to just take a risk.

I can understand not buying in January. There's little point in paying over the odds for someone to "fix" our problems when really it needs a rebuild from the bottom up. You can't do that mid season. Better to give the current crop time to keep themselves in employment.

I mean, short of buying a real world class player, I'm talking top 4 or 5 in the world, anyone coming into this right now will get mired down with the rest of the team.

Honestly, Suarez is looker better by the game. Entirely different team when he was playing for us.

Effort is there in a lot of games in terms of pressing, I do think they are trying to be fair.

Simple harsh reality is that most of them are just poor footballers and aren't good enough for where we want to be.

Totally agree with you there. The effort is there but they lack quality. Our CB and Midfield is to slow also. Hope we can get a physical pacy CB in the summer.

I find this thread and pretty much every comment well over the top tbh.

In what way?

Sure, the performance today wasn't dreadful. Butit was far from inspiring. And this isn't just about this evening. There is a pattern developing this season, we don't score enough and we concede too many.

That's the blatant truth of it. And Sturridge and Coutinho may paper over the cracks for a while, but it won't rectify our problems.

There is a big, big job to be done here, make no mistake.

In the way that the reaction is over the top. Total clear out? Yeah because that works.

Do we need some more quality? Sure, who doesn't, but a total clear out of this young squad is lunacy and it's not going to happen anyway.

Personally I'd add a central midfielder with a decent passing range, good touch, balance and shows for the ball. Then I'd add two wide forwards because we don't really have any.

That's it for the moment. How he's fashioning a shape out of Can, Lucas, Henderson, Milner, Lallana and Firmino I don't know but it's never going to be top notch is it because the all play through the middle naturally and there is a lack of genuine pace. That means you won't win as many football matches. It doesn't make the players awful.

Leicester have great players do they? Can't pass for sh!t ffs.

Most teams play one route football in this league so you have to combat that. What you need in this league is pace and physical players. If you dont have those you will not compete. Everton, Arsenal and Swansea want to play a passing but they find it very dificult to get results with playing that style. You need a mix of passing and playing direct.

I agree with that and we do need better quality in midfield but for me the squad balance is terribly off.

Even half decent wide forwards and having any of Ings, Origi or even Sturridge fit would make a huge difference imo. The amount of times the lads checked back to cross was annoying. Having Coutinho will help also.

Agree, we need movement and pace upfront and Coutinho for the service. I am patient with the manager as I trust him to get the quality players we need for the next step.

You need a keeper and 4 defenders before anything else ffs. You back 4 are dreadful and your keeper is a back up keeper at any decent club.

BIG JOB for kilppedy klopp.

I agree with Robbing in the main.

Hendo was virtually playing right wing at times yesterday because we have no natural attacking width on that side.

Clyne offers but is limited, which is fine as he's a good defender.

Moreno on the other side is limited and isn't a good defender, but we have nobody in front of him offering any quality from the left either. His 'shot' in the first half from a great break sickened me!

Lallana and Milner run a lot but produce very little. We are reliant on Firmino at the moment to produce something but if he has an off night then nobody else is stepping up to be creative and make something happen.

Leicester reminder me a bit of us in 13/14. Very direct with the ball with two strikers a constant threat and players all working well together, even if some are limited, with good balance.

Klopp knows we need some investment but until he signs some players of his own we will continue to in inconsistent as we are reliant on too many individuals to produce a coherent team performance.

We weren't bad tonight at all in general play but never really looked like scoring a goal. When the worldy goes in you know it's game over.

If you think of a premier league football team like a F1 car, you can have a top quality engine, gearbox, running train etc, but if the supercharger is crap, it won't go anywhere. Many of our players would perform so much better if we just had a bit more movement and finishing up front.

Even our defence is having to work so much harder because we are losing the ball in midfield, because the midfielders have nobody to pass to, because there is no movement in front of them.

I agree with T Bone; self-confidence is non-existent. Change the squad, the entire squad? Well we can, and if it goes tites up we can always blame Ayres, can't we? Again. It can always be, only be, his fault.

I haven't seen the game yet, I listened to it on LFCTV, we had 17 corners and achieved fekall. Again.

I've never seen Jurgen so animated, post-match. He appeared to be beside himself with rage and frustration.

But bear in mind people - there's been a lot of very good comments in this post, lots of common sense, most of which I agree with - we've got our four new 'signings' to come back. Sturridge, Devock, Philippe, Martin. They must make a difference.

Great, fantastic to see Danny I outside training on the grass, that gave me a lift.

Top 4? Get real. Top 6? Dream on. Next season? Jurgen's summer buys fitting in, no Thursday/Sunday Euro games. Lots of time to train. Lots more time to coach, and that for me is the most important part.
