Ex Spurs X1 in Premier League

After watching the games over the weekend, I got thinking of ex players playing elsewhere in Premier League and how they might perform in league - probably mid table

GK: Gomes
Back 4: Smith, Bassong, Caulker, Naughton
Defensive Mid: Capoue, Carrick
Attack Mid: Lennon, Sigurdsson, Townsend
Striker: Defoe

Subs: Sandro, Piennar, Adebayor, Hutton, Routledge

None of those players would have gotten into our current team. We are now one of the worlds best teams on the same level as Juventus, Manchester City, PSG and Athletico Madrid. There are only 3 teams better than us and you cannot convince me otherwise

Defoe, Gomes, Siggy, Lennon are all in great form. Even a team consisting of our ex-players would probably finish above Liverpool.

Spurtle,

You finished your post with a laughing smiley, but i dont think you needed one, i think you made a good point.

We have let a fair amount of decent players leave our club - and if they were all put together they would genuinely make a good starting XI...

If by a genuinely good starting XI you mean an XI which would struggle to stay in the league then I agree

How do you get "an XI that would struggle to stay in the league" from the words "genuinely good starting XI"?

Someone's had too much hippy crack over the weekend.

I was being sarcastic. Thought that seemed fairly obvious

That team in the article would be in a relegation battle

Chicken,

It would be a decent team up top, but not so much defensively. Bassong and Kaboul aren't the best defenders in the world and are having poor seasons. Then again Liverpool's defence isn't good either.

I reckon they'd finish mid-table somewhere.

Spurtle,

The article is pairing Bassong and Caulker at CB - not Kaboul. Not that it makes much difference I suppose, as I think Caulker is a bit of a donkey too. I think you're being harsh on Bassong though. I think paired with the right CB he would do a good job.

I think mid-table is a reasonable shout though...
