Well it's silly season again.
With a bid of £45m yes that's forty five million expected to be the asking price, for them or any other interested party.
Nonsense of course.
But if true I'd take it, with that amount of money, sensibly spent and the lure of playing in the new stadium, we could attract some really top quality players, perhaps even the fabled 20+ goals a season striker and really push on.
And now it's Chelsea linked to Payet.

Lazy journalism. Plus he is about to sign a new deal and loves it here.
So dig deep Chelsea!

I'm not the 1 star merchant by the way, but i cant see Chelsea spending that much money for a player of his age. The Chinese might, but not Chelsea.

It's all about how it's calculated.
The new five and a half deal will keep his basic wages at £68,000 pw.
Then get a £25,000 appearance bonus.
Plus £1m for the new contract, paid over twelve months adding another £19,000 per week to his pay packet.
It means potentially over £106,000 per week on average in the firdt twelve months dropping to around £87,500 per week for the following four years after the initial signing on bonus is paid.

Still ridiculous btw, but it makes a lot of sense to have a large proportion as appearance fees as he will be 33 by the end and possibly not fit enough to play every game. It also of course helps if he picks up any long term injuries.

Great signing for you lot and he's been outstanding this season.
It's nice to see clubs being able to keep their best players i e you with payet and Leicester with vardy and them not just being sold because other clubs want them.
