I really don't see how people can say that he is not worth £20 million. Lets put it this way. If Henderson is a big hit he will be around for a long time, in that time lets say we didn't buy Henderson and went for a cheaper for foreigner at lets say £10 million, guarenteed two/three years later he woiuld be sold and another foreigner come in for £10 million, thats £20 million already. SO my point is even though it seems expensive if this boy holds down a first team spot and keeps that position for the next 10 years it's gotta go down as a great bit of buisness...

United have looked closely at Henderson for a while. If he makes it, it is money well spent by Liverpool. Same for Jones to United.

Guys, only time will tell. I think the fee is inflated but to be honest I am happy that we are competing at this level. We are no longer holding up deals until the last minute. Can you imagine any of this happening under the old regime?

This suggests to me that we must have quite a bit of dosh. Let's be honest, central midfield is not one of the main areas we need to strengthen. Our wide areas and left back are much higher on the priority list, and yet we have still found £20m to spend on a centre mid. Makes me optimistic about the rest of the transfer window.

Jokes aside, Liverpool have paid over the odds but...
....fair play to Dalglish putting some money in English talent. we all complain at the lack of English players and identity of our top clubs, so well done to Dalglish.

I would have been pleased if United had signed him as he plays in an area we are/will be lacking. I would have been hacked off at £20 million though. Nasri would probably cost around the same and he is an established top flight player.

I have absolutely nothing against your opinion of what a good player may or may not be, but you just have to look at 'foreigners' like Modric or Van Der Vaart or Fabregas and ask if they are worth more now than what was paid for them and if you think that Henderson is as good as them.
Henderson may well turn out to be a class player - not that he's actually shown much yet - but he may turn out to be great. But there are better or at least comparable players available for less, and foreigners who are better.

I think both are massively overrated but wouldnt you say Rodwell is the better prospect than Henderson?
Either way, £20mil is ridiculous. £55mil for Carroll and Henderson combined is daylight robbery.
Add £25mil and you get C.Ronaldo
