Good quote from Mousa "What a lot of managers don't seem to realise is that players are people. Andre Villas-Boas certainly didn't, although Harry Redknapp did but undervalued the tactical aspect of the game."
He must be referring to that famous tactical genius team talk of "go out there and run around a bit"
Harry Redknapp and "tactics"

Fergie was no mastermind tactician either but he had a brilliant man management string to his bow. There needs to be a balance between letting your players play with some freedom and coaching them to play a certain system. Harry probably went too overboard with the freedom. Poch seems to have the middle ground. Mourinho went too far the other way and probably because too obsessed with tactics hence why most of the team stopped responding.

Good Old 'arry
He used to say his tactics were to put his arms around the players and give them bit of TLC
It did work at the time, if you recall that horrible winter when he took us from bottom to the comfort of mid-table
Will always remember him for that and that game at the library, when we clawed ourselves back to level against the Arsenal who were already taking selfies and celebrating...(That lot! )
No probs with dirty 'arry from me

I think your underplaying Fergie's tactical nounce there
He was great at spotting talent and also, his in-game subbing were most of the time spot on and worked.
He read the game well and would prepare the team very well too.
United were always up for it from the word go under SAF.
Couldn't say the same about them now.
However, Poch has got us doing the same now
I hated when we used to play teams and really not turn up until past 20 minutes mark, by which team we used to most often 2-0 down
I do take your point about SAF man management but it wasn't in the same way as Harry
You daren't make SAF upset as a player! not one to mess with

Yeah don't get me wrong. Fergie didn't get to where he did by just telling the players to run around but his philosophy was pretty simple. Attack attak attack. Get the ball down the wings and get it into the box as much as possible. Fergies brilliance was man management and keeping the team motivated season after season. No one else did it like him.

I read Fergie's book, and seem to remember he was strong on players learning passing drills, where players go when possesion is taken in certain areas, where runs should be made.
He said when it came to matches they didn't have to think about where to put the ball, it was instinctive. You could put it in a certain channel blind, and know someone was making that run.
It's no coincidence they were always an amazing team on the break

It's a weird quote from someone who has never played under Harry .
