Make no mistake; £3m + add-ons for Beckford was a good price in the current market.

He is 27, has pace and strength and has averaged 1 in 2 at all levels, including the Premiership. If we can work on his temperament, we will have a real asset.

The player we fought so hard for (won't mention his name again) has a very similar strike record and abilities but has a serious question mark over his knee. He is also untried at the top level of the game and with less than a year on his contract, would have cost us twice the price.

So the squad is nearly there. I agree with many in that we almost certainly need a quality pacey wide-man (would have liked Kebe) but the loan market is about to open and I suspect we will see a couple more come in then.
