Whoops Mr Levy.

David Ginola tried to convince the shiny headed one to sign Payet back in 2013

Speaking in 2013, quoted by Footmercato, he said he recommended Payet to Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.

He said: "I talked to Daniel Levy recently [about Payet] but Marseille have now taken him. I told him... Payet, if you put him with Defoe or Bale and Soldado, that will make a dream attack.

"He has everything you need to be an excellent player and can make the difference at any time, a little bit like Eden Hazard."

I guess Dan forgot the advice when Marseille were open to offers last summer, oh well Spurs lose is the Hammers gain.

Isn't hindsight amazing.

These things happen at every club. For every player a club signs theres always another who missed out.

Payet is a bit too old for what Levy usually goes for and would not want to risk it because should Payet have not performed then its always more difficult to sell for a good fee.

Good point Sane glad you raised it 😊 Let's compare

He has the same stats as our 'flop' purchase Lamela who doesn't even hold down a regular position in the squad.

He wouldn't fit into how we play as he is a focal point player that all your good work goes through.

The majority of our work is from the lb and RB while the centre do a lot of the grafting

But I keep on hearing from Spurs fans that Lamela is rubbish and the team suffers every time he plays and that also Townsend is a much, much better player cruelly overlooked and then forced out.

Sure I've seen that loads of times.

Not really, don't think he'd get into our first XI anyways

Not sure where you are getting that from Sane, Lamela took time to settle in the PL, but is hugely influential to the Spurs squad, did you not see him slot that ball through for Eriksen on Sunday? He is one of our hardest working players & has a good number of assists and goals this season.

Townsend is, well Townsend...............................obviously has potential, but I don't think he has either the work ethic or the ability that Poch wants.
Plus he is like a headless chicken at times, runs into blind alleys & shoots from ridiculous positions.

Sure he will score occasionally, but only very occasional. He has I believe one of the worst goals to shots ration in the top division!

Think he has found his level by going to Newcastle though

As for Payet, he is a very good player & orchestrates everything at West Ham.
Maybe we did look at him & decided against signing him because of his age or something else?

Look at Alli, looked at by both United & Liverpool and he came to Spurs
