Arsenal a few years back made a big fuss over a new found 'British core' they had built. These young English talents were supposedly the real deal, and would be mainstays for both Arsenal and the national team. Of that group, Jenkinson has been pretty much binned now, with Chambers and Welbeck added
Gibbs, Wilshere, Walcott, Ox, Ramsey, Chambers, Welbeck
Spurs, however, have a bit of a British contingent themselves. And haven't made a really big deal about it in comparison
Walker, Rose, Mason, Kane, Dier, Trippier, Alli, Carroll, Davies
So which group is superior?
I was ridiculed last season for saying that Dier was better than the error prone Chambers. I think it's clear I was correct
Spurs' four fullbacks are almost as good as each other and can rotate at will. Gibbs has been demoted to reserve LB
Wilshere continues to be a crock, and therefore can't contribute. Still more useful than bl00dy Mason tbf
Ramsey had an excellent 13/14 season, and has been chasing his first touch ever since. A 19 year old Dele Alli has outperformed him this season, without doubt
Chamberlain hasn't progressed one bit. Kick and run footballer. And Walcott continues to be garbage
Meanwhile, Kane has more goals in the past two seasons than Welbeck has in his career. Probably
So, Arsenal fans, have your 'British core' been a success? Or a failed Wenger experiment?

Arsenal don't really have a British core as such. The central spine (7) of their first XI is Czech, French, German, French, Spanish, German, French.
The Britiish players are peripheral figures, only coming in when others are not available or put in wide positions.
We have at least three in that spinal seven, and two more at fullback (key MoPo positions).

Don't think they meant core in a literal sense as in the actual 'spine' of the team, more of a group of young British players

Who the hell wants British core when they a load of shhittee

I wouldn't be harping on about a "British core" at my club, with Chelsea, City and United about to go on the mother of all spending sprees in the summer to replenish their sides.
