Be honest now...

Disclaimer: this post is purely for the genuine Leicester fans  - no WUM’s please!

I was over in Leicester at the weekend – I tried via several ‘avenues’ to get tickets for the game, but to no avail!

Ended up watching the game ‘live’ at a nearby Welford Road hostelry [name of pub excluded for obvious legal reasons] on a very dodgy live stream – I think we heard the roar of the goal from the ground about 3 minutes before we actually saw it on the TV 

The atmosphere in the pub beforehand was anxious but excited and it was still packed with people who (like us, didn’t have a ticket) throughout the match. A truly great experience (apart from the aforementioned dodgy streaming!) and I was so overwhelmed with the passion, excitement and real sense that maybe we could it!

The whole weekend I was ‘home’ there seemed to be an incredible buzz around the whole City and that’s what leads to this post and a few questions:
• How do you think the season will end for us (honestly)?
• What would we settle for now?
• What has this done for our club/city?
• Does it get any better than this?!

@Arro – bygones, and all that! 

Arro, I can see your point in that spurs are more likely to challenge the league in future seasons than Leicester but we have never actually had a title challenge in this premier league era. We have been a regular top 4 challenger for years now granted but never in with a shout of the title so this is totally alien to most of us spurs fans bar the older generation. If either spurs or Leicester win it then it will be amazing for the English game and will give others hope that any side can win that league if they build up the right team and put their mind to it

Agree with that 👍

In answer to the original questions:
(a) A top finish
(b) Champions or runners-up, anything else would be an anti-climax
(c) Obviously a huge amount of extra publicity for the club
(d) It would surpass anything in recent times

You shouldn't settle for anything less than 1st

Top 4 is almost certainly assured, 2nd, 3rd no difference, and 4th a qualifier. All much a likeness. The title is there for whoever wants it, and you are in a great position.

It'll only be a big boost to the club if you follow it up next season, and have a bit of sustained top end action. Liverpool almost won the title, and then bang....next season scrabbling for 6th, this season just about top half.

Does it get better? CL nights next year will be special. Virtually guaranteed a big boy in the group, brilliant nights under the lights. That music......

Where do I see you finishing? I know you won't like me saying it but I think 3rd.

- How do I think the season will end for us: Today, I think we'll finish second, behind Spurs. Ask me again tomorrow.

- What would I settle for: Treating this as being the question "What would you take if offered now", I wouldn't settle for anything less than first. That's not necessarily because I think we're favourites to get first, but this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to go for glory.

- It's certainly made us noticed, although at the moment we're still simply a fairy tale. Ultimately this can probably be viewed as a platform, and the hard work to consolidate our status and keep some of the new fans we've attracted will go on for perhaps years to come.

- Depends if we win or not.

(a) challenging for Europe.
(b) wherever we finish this season, very happy whatever happens this year. A year ago we propped up the league!
(c) Raised the profile and expectations.
(d) Yes - in ascending order of preference: 1. We secure a Champions League spot. 2. Higher than 4th. 3. Win it.

If we can't win it I want Spurs to. I think they'll have a much better chance than us of establishing amongst the 'big' boys in the future - a 60k seater stadium will help there. Biggest danger at present for them is the established elite will be looking at the fantastic job Poch has done and wondering if they could snaffle him. Also pinching the young quality players. Comes with the territory I suppose.

Arrived in this morning and back on the 07.00 in the morning -hardly worth going to bed!
Like Nuneaton would be satisfied with top four place - our lack of squad depth will tell. Like today -Kante out and we have yesterdays man (from championship) - King on standby. Good club man of course but that's it. Too soon for Amartey I would guess -based on last weeks hesitancy which would be fatal in midfield -especially with Sessegnon buzzing. Our heralded Inler and Benoulane have just not pushed on - as in fact Kramaric who is playing near where I am based at present.Or on sub bench at least. I guess Walsh takes credit for the losers as well as the winners.

So top four would be magnificent -especially when we just exited February -12 months from the near disaster - when after the further touch line igoniminy on the Palace game and subsequent players internal meetings - which Ulloa referred to again on its anniversary- the new playing system was put forward- Albrighton came off the naughty step - vital for the new alignment and the rest is history....

By the way when we analyse the massive success of this season - with 4 4 2 working - which the previous regime found impossible in Premier League- pay respect to Paolo Benetti who has taken charge of the defensive strategy and structure this season -building on the reputation he has as a top Italian defensive coach. The home of good defensive practice -Italy and we have benefits this season

Hmmmm, a bit negative that JG. This squad has got us top of the league. Everyone who's played a part deserves credit for that.

King included.

Yes we haven't got Mata, Mikel or Ozil to come in but we're not Utd, Chelsea or Arsenal with their financial clout.

Walsh and the full management team, new and old, along with all the playing staff deserve nothing but respect for what they've done at our club.

Epic.

We probably will fall short due to our lack of squad depth, but that's not for want of trying behind the scenes. We have a brilliant sustainable model at the minute, we should do everything we can to keep it.

Whatever happens between now and the end of the season, Leicester fans just think this:

At worst, no at the very worst, you guys will be in Europa league

Anything else is priceless
